Need a little help here. My wife and I have been to Gordons twice in about 4 years rolleyes.gif and we really loved it. We finally have toys again so we want to plan a weekend to go back out. We're thinking about Halloween but don't know what to expect as far as turn out, place to park, when to arrive, etc.
We might be bringing another couple and we'll be doing the tent thing as that is how we have always camped.

Any suggestions?
snowdemon
dont knw about halloween just more or less tried to get there one day or more before the major holidays. Just to get a spot. I know me and a few others will be there on friday the 9th and stayin till sunday, one or two guys are novice to the sand so it is gonna be a nice kicked back weekend. We will be at gordons look for a big a$$ weekend warrior bumper pull with a silver dodge one ton. If ya cruise out this weekend.

I will be one of those sand novices snowdemon spoke of. Come on out, look for my white Nissan Altima with duct tape on the front bumper.

If you are camping at Gordon's and just a couple of you tenting it. I would be careful where you set up camp. Lots of idiots like ripping through the flats past camps. Would hate to hear you got ran over while asleep in a tent.

No problem there Osoto, we plan on circling the trucks and trailers as best we can. If we do pull this off, I'll definately look all you guys up as we are looking to expand our "riding family".

If you see a lifted 07 Classic and a lifted Avalanche that would be us. Stop in and introduce yourself.

We're next to the diner the week before Helloween. Seems like the week before is more crowded than the weekend of.

Another dumb question, where's the diner? Does anyone have a map of Gordon's Well? Something like an aerial view that shows the dunes, parking, sand drags, vendors row and such?

Use google maps or Virtuial Earth, The only building is the dinner as fdar as the drags and venders there not to hard to find once your there. Just don't go looking for the drags until late afternoon.

I labeled this map for you, hope it shows up, alot of people refer to Dune Buggy Flats in baseball terms when they talk about where they will be camping. You as tenters might like it along one of the canals so you don't have people zipping by you.

Thanks a bunch Predator Chick much appreciated. Yeah we have always ended up by the canal since it's the easiest place to find. What kind of distance is typically referred to when someone is talking about the bases and how far apart they are? Any chance I could get you to label the sand dunes such as the different hill names?
Predator Chick
Your Welcome!

I added some more stuff, I am not for sure about Big Bastard and Gordon's wall, it's hard by Satellite, but they are in that area. I will edit some more tomorrow when the eye's aren't so tired.
As far as distance, the big kiddie track we camp by is maybe 2 miles up from I8? Someone correct me if I am wrong on the distance.

If you have any questions let me know. I remember being the new person in the dunes learning as you go with no guidance.

First time out getting the quad stuck I couldn't figure out why no one stopped to help. wife.gif Now I ride by new people and can spot them a mile alway. laughl.gif

The worst was going into Yuma for wood and coming back with palets. Never understood why people were yelling at us as we drove by until a few trips later, and I learned more about the nails in them popping peoples tires.

Are you still going the Gordons a.k.a. Dune Buggy Flats October 30-31?

My son and I decided to save some money this year by staying in a hotel in El Centrol rather than missing the trip. It's very close to Buttercup and it's only $150 for the weekend.

We are both pretty mellow and always ready to help out.

It would be great to hook up with some cool trustworthy campers that could watch our stuff at night and maybe hook up for some dune'n.

I was really not looking forward to loading the trailer back up at night.

We can bring some firewood.

I plan to leave Orange County early AM on friday. I can even try to hold a spot if others were planning on showing up later in the day.

HEGD I'll have to take a rain check. I was out voted It seems all of our friends want us to throw another Halloween party. I have to admit they are off the hook, so were looking to get out there the first of November for a shake down run and then head out for Thanksgiving.
