What is a ballpark figure on a crank rebuild cost for an 86 trx 250r? Any places anyone would recommend? I live in San Dimas but am willing to do a little driving for good work.

Thanks

Talk to sandpusher, I know he just had at least one done and is working on another one. IM him or wait till he sees that you posted the Q, I'm sure he'll respond, he's always willing to help out. bandit.gif

Hey Padtrx,
The best place to buy the rod kit is Chaparral in San Bernardino. Can't beat the price. For labor, anywhere between $40 and $50 will do. Any more than that is a rip off.

When you buy the rod kit make sure what you get is what you need.
I put the order for a long rod kit (87-89 style), but they sent me the 86 style.
I didn't check, and found out too late (once the motor was put together).

Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably go to chaparral this weekend and check them out. Thanks again.

Take your crank/rod to Q & E in Anaheim. They'll hand you a rebuilt crank with a new rod for around $150 and you're out the door in 15 minutes.
