Just got a new 04 400EX for my birthday last month......now comes modify time....
I was wondering which after market exhaust has the best bang for the buck. I've been looking at the Duncan Racing Fat Boy 4 .....comes with new jets, pipe ....everything. I just don't want an obnoxiously loud exhaust though.

Any info would be great.........

Just about anything would probably help that thing. But based on what I read on Exriders it seems that the HMF, LRD, and Sparks seem to be favored. http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php...st&pagenumber=2

Most any pipe/jet/filter mods will help you. If you want to be legal, make sure you get a "legal" 96 db pipe. Otherwise you will be limited to where you can ride, or more specificaly, where they don't do sound testing. According to Sparks Racing, they are now checking db levels at Gorman (Hungry Valley) and Pismo. I would immagine they are also doing them at Troy Meadows. Haven't seen any at Glamis, don't want to either...

I just put a Duncan FatBoy4 on my '02 400EX. It greatly improved throttle response on the low and midrange. I am very pleased with my purchase.

If you are looking for a quiet pipe, then this isn't it. It is a very loud pipe as it is intended for racing only......

I will be buying the spark arrestor and exhaust turn down to have on hand incase I get stopped at places that require them.

with a lot of dune area's taking decibel checks now, i would get something that either has a interchangeable tip or the quiet core.. sparks has a race tip and a disc setup for there pipes, also white bros sells there quiet core version..

Spoke to White Brothers today, coming out with the E2 next month. supposed to be @93 dbls with the same power. That would be nice. Spark arrested also. legal, fast and quiet, the future of riding.

We love our pro circuit pipe....Loud but not excessivly, sounds great when running and not too expensive $220 Chaparall.

I have white bros on both of mine and they work great and they are tunable.
