My brother just got back from ogilby this weekend....Just before the tower on the way in there is a big soft spot in the rode. He said there were 4-5 rigs in front of him on the way in that got stuck, this is the same spot from years past, last year it was really good I didnt have to use 4wd at all. So beware once you get through the small woops section start picking up some speed.. Im going this coming weekend so I will check it out and report back.

Just thought I would pass it on....

Gordons is already getting soft. No big deal this past weekend, but not like it was last year. If we don't get some rain, it is going to be a mess by New Years......
Been there dune that
As part of the stimulus package, they should pave it....no wait....order a study, sue someone, take a few kickbacks, then tell us to go somewhere else.

Just got back from ogilby...wow it was soft, I thought hitting it at 25mph would be the ticket but nope got stuck...aired down to 30 and i came right out..
By the end of the weekend it was worse than when I got there...I left my tires at 30 psi and went a little faster and barley made it through. I sure hope it rains good before thanksgiving. The soft spot is every bit of 1/4 mile....pay attention to the home made sign in the bushes that says "go fast"...LOL

This spot was semi-bad last T-day. Thanks for the heads up.

We were planning on heading to Olgilby this T Day, but with the above posts we are nervous about the soft stuff.
We are a group of Motorhomes.

So what is the Truth is it to soft?

What if we bring plywood?

I have a couple friends there now. They say there is a 100 yard stretch of soft stuff near the tower with some bumps just before it. One of them got stuck (stock ford and a 5th wheel). Another friend with a large Dodge pulled him out and a couple others. Most motorhomes are dual real wheel and usually do pretty good in the soft stuff. PM me if you want my number. We will have 2 very capable trucks to tow people out.

We got out here friday evening and seems to be a little bit better than last month...we didnt get stuck this time but it is soft.

Mike are you out here already? on the way back from patton we pull over to let 3 cars go by and I could have swore I saw your car.
Mike330R
Yes I'm here. Huge red 5th wheel in camp.
Had 2 cars on a ride today, mine and an all red 2 seat.
We are north of the entrance trail.
You may hear a fool on a mega phone. smile.gif

Good to see you again Mike....and a special thanks to the guy in the black dodge for helping get us (my bro) unstuck. Did your get it on tape? I seen here there with a camcorder, he had a white mega cab dually....LOL I made it through after airing down but the other 4 rigs in our group got stuck.. Five days sure did fly by fast.

tons of people were stuck this week... lol... we watched people line up as we camped well before the soft stuff on the right... was a drive to the dunes but we did not have to deal with getting tons of our group stuck. I liked the two rhinos hooked up to the truck and trailer trying to pull out the stuck truck.

Saw mike a few times out in the dunes lol... I see him every time I go to Ogilby lol... him and the red hot poker... two of the times the poker has been getting prodded (wrenched on) while the others look on...
Mike330R
Guess I didn't see either of you guys?
The black dodge is Bob from our camp, he pulled 20+
rigs out and I piled a few out. Should be a cluster on Sunday, glad I'm leaving Saturdy!

The red car broke an axle. Glad I had a high angle hammer to
get us home.

Week sure went by fast icon_sad.gif

Yeah i guess some of the people we where camping with where out till about 1-2 in the morning on Wednesday night and Thursday morning helping people get unstuck. I didnt get there until Thursday afternoon but the rode wasn't that bad,( maybe we just went fast enough)
