I have a group effort nomination:
On Columbus weekend we had a buggy go over a razorback, lawndart, end over end, roll and end up on its lid. I was right behind the buggy on my quad and saw the whole chain of events. We all rushed to the buggy, but there were a couple people who stood out in the rescue/recover of driver and vehicle.
First off SandTraps mom for helping the driver get out of the buggy..while the buggy was upside down hot oil was running out of the oil cooler tank onto the driver, WJ quickly ripped off her camelback and dumped cold water on the driver, then continued to do so with water bottles out of the coolers that we had. If it wasnt for her quick thinking and getting to him quickly, I am sure the burns could have been pretty bad, last report that I got was the driver had no burns, but did have a fractured L3 in his back, he is in a back brace and hopefully will have a quick recovery.
Next up is SandTrap, for his quick thinking to get the buggy back on its wheels before it lost all the oil, so we could maybe drive it out. (This was a standard travel, mid engine rail). Once it was on the wheels, Wes and crew got it running again, the main damage to the car was a broken front rim, thanks to another person in our group having a crow bar, the wheel was straightened enough for it to turn and be somewhat driveable.
Also, SandTraps son Justin did a great job of looking ahead and helping to find a path so that we could get out of the dunes. We were between the flagpole and China wall headed for the washes, so it was quite an adventure.
All in all, the whole situation could have been REALLY bad, but the group formed together, and got everyone and everything back to camp. SandTraps parents also took the driver to Brawley ER Sun afternoon and didnt return until the early hours Monday morning.
I guess I would just have to nominate everyone that was in the dunes with us, everyone did their part, and there only interest was to get driver and buggy back to camp safely, and they succeeded in doing just that.
Forgot to add, the passenger I helped out of the car walked away with a bruise on his leg and a black eye. Very fortunate indeed.
I would like to add Chelle (V&L Powdercoating) for getting Him back to camp safely and quickly so they could get him to the hosp.
And Ian for jumping in and helping when he was needed.. and walking up the dune to get my quad

It really was everyone that was on that run that got Jimmy and his car out and safely back to camp..
Jimmy is doing well. Last word was he planned to fix his car and get back out. Prob won't be til next season but it's great that he is here with us still!!
