ONE-A-DAY

We are coming into what could be referred to as the peak season for employer groups to be looking at their medical plan offerings and deciding on what they will be offering their employees for the coming calendar year.
My company is a health insurance agency / brokerage. We represent all of the major insurance carriers in California and have a little over 1000 employer group clients.
We currently have a telemarketer in-house that calls employer groups and attempts to set appointments for me to visit and review their current plans, possibly making suggestions for cost savings, and hopefully becoming their insurance agent.
I would like to bring on a second telemarketer through the end of the year, but I don't have any available work stations at my office so I have been considering going to an telemarketing agency or giving someone an opportunity to work from home. The problem with telemarketing agencies is they usually use callers that are in a third world country, which with the advent of caller ID doesn't work that well when the employer see's some odd looking phone number. When the caller ID registers a call coming from a familiar area code the response rates dramatically increase.
Its a very simple process, it just boils down to being a numbers game. If you make 100 calls a day, you will get me one maybe two appointments a day. Its not the most glorious position, and if you cant handle rejection it may not be for you. I would keep it pretty informal, to see if works for either of us. I am not 100% convinced I am going to go this route of being 100% hands off, but if I find someone that I feel comfortable with its worth a shot.
I pay $12 an hour, plus a $20 bonus for each legitimate appointment scheduled. Hours would be 10-4, Mon-Friday. It would be best to have a dedicated phone line to use for the calls, and I would reimburse for the increase phone bills if you don't have an unlimited plan. I have scripts, but the best success will come from those people who can "read between the lines" and make the script their own.
Send me a pm if it seems appealing and we will go from there.

It would be home based. My office is in Santa Clarita but we dont have the room for another person. Any Southern California location would be fine as far as the caller id issue goes with the area codes.

you could get a cell phone from your area code then send it to whomever gets the job. That way you would also have a check on the calls being made. I can pm you my address to send the phone....

This route seems like a good idea.
Could even write off the phone usage for tax purposes.
I would like to throw my hat in the ring, if this
is still available.
In 760 area code.

Walt,
Im pretty sure your insuring one of my co-workers now.. Ive tried to get our hr to call you to set something up, but I have a feeling its just simple keeping who we are using.
We just passed our open enrollment, but Ill keep trying..
And if it does work out - you can send the 20.00 to my home..

Another thought would be to offer bounties to people like me etc.. They tell their HR folks about you etc and if they book, you send them to a nice lunch or something..

Sorry for no updates. I am pretty sure I am going to outsource it. The cost and the stats are hard to overlook. I am also not going to ramp up until January, I like to shut down for December, so ramping up now wouldnt be a good idea.
Thanks for the replies, and thanks Chummin, I got your $20 and a icb or three. And yes I have heard "he said to say Chummin sent me" on more than one occassion.

Who are you outsourcing to? I was just about to post a similar job when I saw this posting.
