i have a xantrex inverter in my rig. 08 cr3905. it had it put in the trailer when i ordered it from headinjury in 07.

my wife told me the other day that when the inverter is on, powering the tv and dvd player, that there are lines that float up the screen of the tv. i honestly didnt know about this, because when i am camped i am either riding, outside by the fire, socializing or bbqing. i tried it out today for myself, and sure as hell, she is right. when the generator is on, the tv will not do this, and hooked to shore power, it will not do this. only when the inverter is running, there are slow moving horizontal lines that travel up the screen.

what causes this? bad connection somewhere? bad inverter? help a brother out.

thanks -

kevin

Not sure what causes it. I think it is called "dirty power". I had the same issue. I got one of the cheaper power filters made by Monster Cable, plugged the DirecTV box into it, and my problem went away.

Some one with more knowledge will chime in.

Its not a high end, full wave inverter......It is AC power but not pure AC power so because of that you get the moving lines.

Check and see if there is a ground wire going from the ground lug on the inverter to ground on the chassis. If the connections aren't tight or there is no ground wire, that might cause the interference. If that doesn't eliminate it, try the power filter mentioned above.

The power filter will not work if you hae a ground issue. So make sure to check this first.

If you allready have a quality three stage charger with enough charge capacity for your needs than you could just install a stand alone inverter.
Your coffee maker requirement would take alot of battery and inverter power to brew a pot tho... would be alot better off using your propane for that IMHO.

Duh! He said he needs an inverter and that he's never had to rely on his generator due to where he's camped and now he needs power and doesn't have one and does he just need one with the charger or just a plain inverter all he wants is lights, tv and coffee lots of coffee but he doesn't know how to do it but he can probably figure it out he looked at another members in his w/w and it was this big azz box but the ones he's seen online are smaller.

I mean sheesh! Was that so hard?
