On Friday, 30 October, 2009, the first REACH helicopter touched down at Glamis! This is an amazing achievement by all the groups involved in making this happen. I had the pleasure of tagging along and watching the touch down and open house of the smaller medical helicopter.
Having air lift abilities in Glamis will save lives. Thank you so much to everyone who was involved in making this happen! REACH, The ASA, and the ATV Safety Institute worked together to make this happen. A vendor also donated labor to make the actual concrete structure. Excellent work!
If anyone knows the names of those involved please post up. I was an uninvolved bystander, wanting to post up some good that was done for all of us at G.
For FULL details on what Reach will do for you and your family.. Look at FNG's post.

So is it a private pad or if some other carrier comes for you can they use it?

Krustyone, I believe they run at all times, in many counties. Check out FNG's post. I reread it and saw no restrictions of dates/times. Just lists of counties.
TNTDuner, it is not private that I know of and is not branded or marked as a helipad.

I thought i would jump in here
Myself & Don Wharton of reach air came up with the idea at the sand show to put in a lz on private property ( to hard to get done on federal land ) ,
that any life flight could use.
with a lot of help from WarriorLifeStyles, ASA , UDG , ADF , And KCDF we made it a reality in 6 week's !!!
I am proud to be a part of this and honored to announce that the new Kris Chili Dog Frick LZ is up and operational .
this is only the start of something truly great , We are working with KCDF & Imperial County to put in some kind of trauma center . for next season
I am truly amazed how fast we pulled this off the concert was pored on monday and the first helio set down on friday .
As soon as we get the fencing up ( Friday ) Reach is going to station a helio here on all holiday weekends this year .
this shaves 15 minutes off there response time and we all know if you need life flight 15 minutes can make the difference .
Thank you to all who made this happen !!
Great things To Come

So is Reach the only Helo Flying into Glamis or is Mercy Air still flying in on contract? Or is both?

from what i hear and know is that any will fly in but its whatever is the closest heilo i believe. if you have the reach membership i think you can request the reach flight. not positive need someone with some more knowledge to clear it up

this isnt exactly what you were asking but it clears it up a little
"Will REACH always be sent to pick me up if I am injured?
Always dial 9-1-1 immediately. Your local Emergency Medical Services Agency has a system which ensures you will receive the most rapid response when time matters most. In most cases the closest appropriate air ambulance will be sent to your emergency location regardless of the carrier.
If I do not have insurance, will REACH still pick me up?
Yes – REACH responds to patients who need emergency air transport regardless of their ability to pay. A REACH for Life membership ensures you will not have any out-of-pocket costs if you are transported by REACH or a REACH service partner. Your membership helps REACH defer millions of dollars worth of donated services each year."
