I've never been to Ocotillo, is it packed on Thanksgiving? Will there be any open spots if I come in on Weds. night? Where's the best place to camp? We'll be coming with motorhomes and enclosed trailers, any areas to steer clear of, to avoid getting stuck? Sorry for the hijack, just looked like you guys probably know the answers. Thanks Kevin

Plenty of room. I would not worry about it. It is crowded, but you will find something.

Finding a spot in OW on T-day is no problem. It's not the same as looking for a spot in Glamis. There are sooooooo many places to camp, it basically wide open, it's impossible to tell you where to camp. It's a fun place to be for T-day......

Is there a channel you guys use on your race radios when your in Ocotillo Wells? Or should I ask if you guys use the same channel all the time or change it depending on where you are?

I've always been the only one in my group with a car, therefore I never used my radio out there. I'm stoked this year to have Ahipara and Oco Boy to run with this year. I will be camping off Pole line Rd, usually over the second or third hump. Look for my car or Ahiparas and we'll set something up. I'll get there around mid-day Wed.

Looks like we will be transmitting on BFG Relay. That should be Channel 2 for most users.

i will be in ocotillo for turkey day. camped just north east of the intersection of devil slide lane and morton road behind the fenced area. but i dont have a car...

I will be there with the family on Friday, mid day. We are camping south of 78 off Split Mountain Road on family property. I would like to hook up and meet Ocotillo Boy, Ahipara, Suf & Dune and others sometime that weekend. We should post a time and place maybe mid day Saturday to meet. Lets keep everyone posted through this thread to plan a time. It would be cool to get a bunch of GD.com'ers together at OW for a meet and greet.

Cool, I have my radios set on ruggeds' channel right now, but I know they programmed the BFG Relay channel in there when they set the channels for me.

I am heading out friday and will be there mid day. We are camping on the s-22 side I would love to hook up with some buggies for a ride. It sucks being the only car in the group. I can make a run across to the 78 side on sat. to hook up for a ride.

I'm still working out there, there are a lot of people filling the place up. It sucks working and hearing all the toys! Headed back out on monday am and probably working half of wed.........then play time!


I was driving past the blue inn, and it LOOKS like they fixed all of the pumps. I'll try to go by and let you guys know if they have anything other than regular still. Super would be great, even diesel for those of you that might need it.

Anybody coming to Ocotillo for T'day live in or near Apache Junction, AZ? I'm donating a railing kit to Sample here on the board for his grandfathers house. Your help would be appreciated by all. The 2 long tubes are about 15' long.

It's so nice out here! Went for a short drive at sun down, the weather is perfect. Not that busy yet, but filling up. I'd like to check out a few of your cars also. I don't think I can keep up with you guys when you go for a run, but I'd still like to see what nice cars look like. I didnt get run over from Ocotillo Boy yet, or seen him, he must be going too fast for me to see.

I'll be there Friday in AM. Teaching my 3 year old to ride a quad so no Glamis this T-day. Need a boys run at some point so I might as well get it out of the way when I get there. Either staying on family property if my usual crew can make it or might hook up with somebodys group since its just me right now. friday at noon, shell reef..i will put over on my ktm and say hello and introduce myself to you guys. i have met surf and dune in glamis in april this year, so i know what his car looks like. i will look for him...

I'm not sure how tough there being out here about the quad certification (about writing tickets) but there are having the safty class next to our job site and there charging $150 unless you have a voucher from buying a new one. I know there making $$$$$ on that end. Unless you already have one, they still might write you up because of the 3 year old part. If your on the south side of the highway, your usualy safe from that.
