Well as I am sitting here adding up parts I need while going thru sponsorship contracts and such, I thought I would start with a pre season racing report. With the 2009 season for me being such an Epic racing year, I thought I would give some insite for all those who followed last years topic what is in store for me this season. Last season at the start was an average B racer. By the end of the season, I was well beyond a B racer and catching the back of the pack of the "A" class riders. After winning the championships in both classes, by rules and my own desire to move up to "A" class. What does that mean? Instead of running Open and the Sport classes, I will be running Production A and if I have to, Open A to qualify for the Pro-am Main event on Sunday (which Races with the pro's). That's a huge change going from a 45-55 minute motos each day to a a 50 minute qualifier saturday to a 2 hour main Sunday will be work! One bummer for sure is that I am still running one quad. Most Pro-am riders have a practice and race quad. I'm not as fortunate to be blessed with that kind of support. I am currently working two jobs to be able to afford to race this season. Will see how far I can go. The frame has been torn down, repaired and gusseted and is currently out at powdercoat getting candy red. the upper arms will be chromed. I have Carbon Works making me a hood to match my blockoffs (was called Performance Carbon at one time) IMS will help out with the longer races running their larger 3.8 gallon tank over the stocker 2.6 gallon. New for 2010, *Elka suspension will be taking care of the rough bumps and smoothing them out. Controlling it however had been taken care of by ASV, GPR Stabilizers, and FASST Company's Fasst bars. With racing with them all last season (even not being sponsored by them) have made each race more enjoyable rather then exhausting. For my protection EVS has me covered so If I take a spill, I should be able to work come Monday. Being able too see will be taken care of by Scott goggles. For any of my factory parts I should require, Champion Motorcycles has helped me out greatly keeping my YFZ450 running top notch. I'm Still aquiring sponsors as I write this and hopefully to be adding more sponsors before the first race. I also have a HUGE thankyou to ATV Rider Magazine for educating me on writing my resume's, meeting the right people, guiding me thru the past season and season's to come. I have become a much better racer and person from you. (You know who you are icon_wink.gif )
*Elka and Roll Design added @ rnd 3 Lake Havasu as new sponsors.
The 2010 schedule as follows...

1) Jan 22-24 Speed World MX - Phoenix, Az
This track is fast when it is dry. its clay and good dirt. One of the best motocross tracks if not the best on the series in my opinion.
15th Pro Am
2) Feb 26-28 Buffalo Bills Resort Casino- Stateline, Nv (Combined Bike & ATV weekend)
This is a new venue for WORCS. They have alot of desert races in there for trucks/cars like SCORE & MDR series. there is a CORR track there. But the only races held there for motorcycles and quads has been supermoto in years past. Its going to be interesting with two racks along side (WORCS did this in Pismo for several years) Pray for some rain cause its going to look like a dust bowl for miles!
Production A 17th Open A 20th icon_sad.gif Did not qualify for pro-am.

3) Mar 19-21 Crazy Horse Campground- Lake Havasu, Az
People say Havasu is the roughest race of the season. Right as spring break, lots of eye candy walking abour 15.gif Its the shortest course on the series but also the best venue to watch from. there was a lagoon jump added for the Pro race last yr. it will depend on the water level if that is added again and also parts of the track will be a factor to water level. It has a small mx section and is filled with whoops. sand and loose gravel pretty much describes the track. Usually is perfect weather for racing.
Production A 14th Open A 8th Pro-Am 12th

4) Apr 23-25 Racetown 395- Adelanto, Ca
Racetown has an awesome mx track with a huge step up. this race being ran in April instead of Feburary in years past, Its going to be hot. the off-road section is long straights of sandy whoops and road crossings. the WORCS X seciton will have large tires and many log obsticles.
Production A 12th Open A 4th Pro-Am DNF

5) May 21-23 Honeylake MX- Milford, Ca
Honeylake is best described and a mountain Glen Helen. Long uphill climb, and a steep downhill. the whole track is based on the hill side. no real flat area's. Another factor is the elevation which robbs power. jetting and some oxygenated fuel helps here. the off road section consists of a back roads a few tight tress (track is about where the tree line ends 4800 ft so not a whole lot of trees grow around the track) passages and riverbeds which are slick and very rocky. when the wind blows there at the base of the Sierra's, your going to loose your EZ-up.
Production A 7th Pro-Am 8th

6) June 4-6 Cahilla Creek MX- Temecula, Ca

I have race mx at this track, Its very loose sand and rutts very quickly. The terrain differs in hieight possibly some hill climbs. its consisted of high desert bushes with rocks. and lots of Gayderser bushes that would eat you alive if you plan on falling into one. Its going to be a very hot and dusty race.
production A 13th, Open A 6th, Pro-Am 9th

7) Jul 23 -Jul 25 Straddleline ORV Park- Olympia, Wa (WORCS Xcross)
the WORCS X event is very cool to watch people destory their equipment. But hey, if you can afford it, its a great time had by all! the Mx track is small and very tame. the woods consists of trees (something we dont see much often) that are tight up and down hill sections. with the moisture of washington, the track can get VERY slick and muddy. some of the hill climbs are 4th and 5th trying to get traction and seems like for days your climbing to techinical downhills.
Production A 13th Open A 15th

8) Sept 24-25 Glen Helen Speedway - San Berndino, CA
Probably the fastest track on the circuit. many 5th gear pinned sections. conisists of everything. WORCS X obsitcales consists of tires, logs, and a bridge. elevation changes. sand asphalt, gravel sections. riverbeds and washes. If it was like last years. SUPER HOT! 100 degrees plus!

9) Oct 15-17 Mesquite MX - Mesquite, NV
Probably my favorite track of the season. Elevation changes, white sand river beds (glamis soft sand best describes it) hard pack, muddy sections. gravel trails. WHOOPS! the Mx section hass 100ft+ table many doubles and a step up. the start is covered in dirt that is tacky and hay.

I will have photos soon of the quad when its finished. Also like last season have race recaps from each round.

Well since I have started this post a few more sponsors have joined my effort for the 2010 season. With FMF exhaust, I will be running their Q4 exhaust, I wont stress about passing the WORCS Pro-am 96 DB test. Dirt Rider magazine has great reviews on the Q4 for its silent power. I should be also running the new Mega Bomb header hopefully before round 1All Balls bearings makes pretty much every bearing in the chassis for my YFZ and even some upgraded bearings for poor faulty design. They also have stock shock seals. Some great things are going to happen with me for the 2010 WORCS series. I should be having more indepth race reports then last years. I am very excited for the season. Glamis Dunes has played an enormous impact on my success in racing WORCS and ITP. I wish I could afford to race both series, but again, in these challenging times its difficult to get by and I am struggling myself to be able to afford the racing. I am working two jobs as we speak. I wish I could share some photo's at this point of the build process but I haven't recived or purchased all my parts yet. Soon I promise. You guys wont be dissapointed in the outcome.

I wish.....That Teryx ain't mine. That pic was taken at Saint George UT when I was there testing the Teryx before it was released to the public. (I used to work with ATVriders.com on UTV testing)

I still have my MX YFZ, but I am short on $$$$$ to finish rebuilding the motor and back to race ready.

really? I wont be able to "party like a rockstar" because I need to be able to perform but will enjoy good company. Just if more people read this thread. This event/venue is a double packed weekend combining bike and quad.

Your going to like this race. We (District 37/Big 6) had a GP there this year. Alot of fast desert sections, the motocross section was pretty mellow, the Core track has huge holes and big rocks on it so watch out for that.

Thanks for the infor Hustler thumb.gif

So here is some of the goodies. The Motowoz are my personal shocks. I sent them to get serviced and had them tweaked with updated parts. Motowoz is helping my campaign for the 2010 season. I am one of the few guys out west running their shocks in a race series. They have alot of mx racers back East though.

Carbon Works makes phenominal carbon fiber products. I have ran the headlight blockoffs in the past with great results. protecting my electrical yet letting airflow to the radiator with a clean look. The Hood is new with a hood scoop. Bill Ballance ran the same hood when he campaigned the older model YFZ. At least my quad will look like a pro GNCC quad laughing.gif a side note, ASTARS on the board designed the first mold for the YFZ hood. Glamisdune members all over the place in the industry.

A friend of mine turned me onto All Balls Bearings. As we all know stock stuff from the dealers aren't cheap. All Balls has some very competitive prices. I sent in a resume' and they were generous to contribute as well. The kits I purchased were carrier bearings (comes with seals). the carrier stock runs 4 ball bearings. they have an updated bearing for the carrier to run two. the bearing is made for side thrust as well as rotational stress unlike the stock setup. (the new yfzr runs this type of setup) I also got the complete linkage kit that connects the swing arm to the shock and the lower pull rod. Everything was included even the bolt shafts. The only other component far as bearings I currently needed was the steering stem. Man was that bearing for the stem surprisingly rusty. they have a kit for that as well. they also carry wheel bearing kits for the front. if your in need of maintence, check them out www.goallballs.com

Ok, finally got the frame back from powdercoating. Yes its late on 1-1-10. but Its one of the few nights/days off i get so time is precious. Started bolting up all the goodies. IMS helping out with going the distance with a 3.8 gallon tank. I added thermotec heat shielding to the bottom of the tank to reduce the possbility of vapor lock and keeping the fuel octane what its supposed to be. Got the Q4 from FMF (96 db's max and normally around 94dbs. Will be adding the megabomb later. Scott is backing me up this year. (going thru tear offs is expensive and lenses) so I decided to pickup a pair of roll offs. these things seem pretty cool! couple pics of start of the rebuild and where I left off at midnight.

didnt get a whole lot done. came down with the flu i assume. but here is where i left off. I planned on firing it up today but it isnt going to happen plthumbsdown.gif

Well got back to work on it today. Finally fired it up after a 2 month sit. (kept the battery on a trickle charger off and on couple hours herer and there) With the new FMF exhaust, its quiet! but still rev's up super fast. like no loss of power which is a good thing. I can't wait to ride it. Just waiting on a few more goodies... Stay tuned!

Nice! Roll offs work great! One pull and you can see again. The dust can get in behind them and scratch the lens though so keep extra lenses handy in your truck as well as your bag of rolls. Its great you're picking up sponsors like you have been. Hopefully you come across a few more that want to put their name on your bike.

the course is interesting. only jumps you can jump due to the rain. the arena cross is flooded, the national track also is flooded. they built a sketchy bridge to get over one of the washes. Its going to be a mud race thats for sure. It will level the playing field with those who are good at mx for me. I will be thrilled if i can just qualify in Production A and not having to race a second one on saturday in Open.

Good luck out there.. I'll be doing Glen Helen this year and maybe Adelanto. Kind of sucks the quads and bikes race on different weekends but I guess there isn't time to run both classes together.. Bike looks great!

Round 2 at Primm, Nevada will have a combined bike/quad weekend. Its rare but it does happen. last time they did a combine weekend was Pismo.

Well Production A was a rough race. I took of in second and stalled it (dead last) I got hit and spun out in the mud, and I also tried to make a pass and made my quad a mud dart but somehow stayed on but soaked head to toe. (It has rained all week and flooded) today was sunshine. since I was soaked, I couldnt grip the bars and my hands kept sliding off and I literally fell off the quad in a corner. So out of 40 racer's I finished 30th.
Open A a few hours later I again tried a second gear start and failed. the dirt is so tacky you get no wheel spin. just stalls. DOH! so I made my way thru the field one by one and on the second to last lap I was riding thru some chop and caught a hole and bucked myself off and ran over myself. quad was fine. just hopped back on the quad and kept riding. I ended up finishing 11th. top 12 go to the Pro-am main event. The goal this weekend was to qualify and which I did. its a huge accomplishment! so tomorrow at 1201:30 I will start tthe main event. A 2 hour race. well i would write more but im exhausted. have a good night all.

The jump is huge. You have to be perfect and even then your still slower then most of them. My starts killed me. I spent allot of time trying to pass slower guys. By the time I would get around them, the group ahead would be too far ahead.
I want to thank Pajama Guy and MWB for coming out to Speedworld and cheering me on or calling me slow laughing.gif Sunday I had the worst gate pick (cause I was pretty much was the last to qualify) Out of 22 riders, On the first lap I was 21st. I sat back probably too long once I passed the tail end that was bunched up. There was a triple in one section I wasn't doing for half the race because I was a chicken. Finally man'd up and was clearing it. it was super easy. just intimidating. at the end of the 2 hour event, I placed 15th. Not too bad for my first Pro-Am. I feel I belong in that group. I am much more capable of a better finish, just need to train harder. The quad took some abuse, have a few broken bolts and i cracked the motor mounts. Its tough on a privateer's budget to be able to compete with the top 5 pro-am riders. they run lap times faster then some of the pro's! my left hand is a exploded blister field. Im pretty sore today but feeling better. couple pics.
GWTT
Little update...
Since round 1 completion, I have invested in a gym pass and have been going religously since I got it in hopes of my physical ability to run harder the next round. Primm is going to be a wide open desert race and I want to have better success qualifying (hopefully in production rather then the second race, Open) for pro-am. I would be in better shape for the Pro-am and also save a few bucks! Off to work on the quad now. race report will soon be on www.atvrideronline.com the pro race report is up so go check it out!
GWTT
Couple photo's. You'll see pajama guy and MWB watching throughing tomato's at me laughing.gif and the two guys who are helping out with my pit, "The Ben" and Tim. without those guys, I couldn't go racing without them. There a huge part of my racing.

Round 2 @ Primm this weekend. Been training hard all month @ the gym and a a good training session @ Glen Helen has helped. Looking forward to getting into the top ten In Pro Am. Hope everyone in Glamis has a good time at the Golf Tourney.

Well Primm was a bit of a dissapointment. No practice Friday, Saturday morning pumped up as much as I can get and go out for unclassified practice. This style track I love. sandy whooped out. stamina and endurance play a huge part. I had been training all month vigorously. At Primm they race the CORR trucks and they incorperated the track into our race. There was a huge tabletop that just cruising in 5th you would land half way on. The next lap I wanted to attempt to downside it but wasnt my luck. a 1/3rd way thru the first lap I got hit from behind while full throttle in a turn and the motor had had enough and let go. very dissapointed. Dunin Dog on the board was kind enough to lend his quad to me for the weekend to race. The suspension was far more superior from what I normally ride. Only downside to it was it was a stock internal motor. no mods which would hinder my performance for the weekend. In production A i got off to about a 10th place start but the start is in the CORR track which is 5th gear WOT. I couldn't keep up with most of the field dropping back several positons until we entered the off-road section. I would pick off riders but would come up short of qualifying for Pro-Am finishing a respectable 17th even without running a stabilizer. Open A I had put the stabilizer on (was being rebuilt for dunin dog to race later in the day) But I was pretty wore out from the production race just a few hours earlier. I got another good start towards the front but once we entered the CORR track, I fell back to the back. in the off-road section I got hit by a rider twice in 3 turns. both times the rider's wheel got jammed into the fender/wheel of the quad I was racing which got stuck. I had lost valueable time and now had to deal with the B class riders. I still battled hard for a qualifying spot but found that the handling had gone severly away not noticing I had a right rear flat. I finished 20th in Open. It was quite dissapointing not to be running in the main event up was proud of my 17th/20th finishes hopping on a quad not setup for me (i run a twist and this was a thumb) having a slight disadvantage in the power dept, and battling w/o the help of a stabilizer I did pretty decent. Its monday evening and Im pretty sore still. I look forward to Lake Havasu in 3 weeks hoping to have my quad back together. When pics come out ill post some up.
GWTT
Couple photo's.

quick update, Production A finished 14th. crashed on the first lap on a tabletop. got bumped in air by another racer who couldn't hold their line. Open A finished 8th. running pro am tomorrow. 2 hr main event. wish me luck! maybe ill grow some heovos and do the lagoon jump???
TroyKrum
Keep us updated with pics as usual... sounds like a tough track. KEEP THE RUBBER SIDE DOWN! thumb.gif
GWTT
Quick race report, Im super sore, my left hand looks like swiss cheese! I tested my New Elka Shocks friday in practice and had them dialed in with the combination of Roll Design Arms. My handling was something I've never incountered. My quad could turn! With the Leager/ Motowoz setup, my quad didnt want to turn before. the caster wasn't correct. now it rides on rails. Also with the new motor and GYTR CDI my bike was ready for anything. At least I thought.
Production A was a rough start. First lap and last part of the mx section I hit a tabletop jump and another rider bumps into me in mid air (he couldn't hold his line an appologized to me later) and I had to bail off the quad and take a tumble. Have a good welt on my back from landing on a rock or something. (side of a golf ball) and a bit of whip lash and knocked the wind out of me. Thank god for all the equipment I wear! I remounted my quad because somehow it stayed rubber side down and drifted to the side of the track. I battled hard to a 14th place finish. 2 spots out of qualifying. later in the day did Open A and had a horrible start. by about the 5th turn in the off road section an huge pileup happended and I was lucky to have had a bad start and found an alternate line to get around. Ended up placing 8th and would qualify for Pro-Am. Pretty sore and a blistered left hand, sore back and neck I still looked forward to pro-am. At Havasu there is no gate, The start was dead engine. already had a bad start and out of 17 riders i was probably 13th off the line. in the Pro/Pro-am race they have at Havasu what is called the lagoon jump. it saves about 7 seconds a lap they said. It felt more like 3. While trying to pass other riders and talking to the pro's who hit it in practice on saturday, it was a 2nd gear full commitment jump. You dont get many chances to go big so I said to hell with it and attempted it on the first lap. What did you know I made it! In style. even some of the pro's weren't doing it! I picked off many riders in the first 5 laps hitting the lagoon jump until they closed it due to deterioration of the lip and people began to crash. I was in 7th place until my heel guard broke and was dragging against my rear tire. I pitted early fueled while we went to work breaking off what was left. I fell back to 12th. battle back up to 8th but then stalled in one section and then did a slow roll over in a sandy uphill section. ( my hands were bloody from holding on the bars all weekend and it was very painful) with 20 minutes to go I was in 10th and could see 9th place but my sub frame and rear axle bearings both went out causing my chain to derail several times even while idling to the finish line. IM not sure what happened but I did overshoot the same table top i wrecked on saturday pretty hard and could have bent the axle and that also could have broke the bearings and sub frame. I finished 12th.

Awesome reading!
Stuff seems to break a lot while racing, I never knew.
Lots of bumping and grinding with other quads too!

I was 7th and battling for 6th, when my heel guard decided to detach! after that I had problems. Hopefully top 10 at racetown if I can get the parts in time. I am still looking for a picture of me doing the Lagoon jump. so far no one caught me on film. icon_cry.gif I know i saw flashes from camera's but haven't seen anything yet.

Hey practice saturday at the track for ITP quads only. Honestly mike, I cant afford two series. Even borrowing a bike I couldnt afford it. I even have pretty much a free ride out to the races. work isnt what it used to be.
