You say that like I don't know who the kid is laughing.gif I've been a Row fan since last season. Watching him at Mesquite he did much better then what was on paper, just sat in the pits the last lap to give Beau the championship points he needed. that would have been his first podium. this year he is on fire. Being very consistant and fast! The whole MCR group is doing very well this season. Cafro has some magic putting these guys all together. rarely ever serious and when you think they are, they are just goofing off. very odd for a pro race team. not behind gates and banner's hiding in the trailer. Very fan friendly!

Ya they are all great guys.. I race D38 with Josh and his Dad Greg and they also have a cool R/C track at their house! tongue.gif I kind of know Cafro, pre ran the 06-07 Baja 500 with him and Danny Prather.. Josh has come up through the ranks really fast, and seems to be getting faster and faster every time he rides the bike. Good luck this weekend and I hope you do well!

Great job Steve!!! Wish I could have come back out on sunday, but had major clean up after the kids b-day party. I was hanging with your dad and sis, she showed me a cool pict of you getting bucked off the bike right after you head out in the desert in your first race! Here are some shots I got of you. I kept shooting the guy dressed just like you on accident.

Ok will start the race report from Friday. It was a bit windy but I went out for practice to get the jumps down (last yr had suspension not tested and didnt do a dang jump) so being in the A class, I best be able to do everything. I hit the bid doubles and step up and the wind blew me almost off the track so I called it a day. I left the track to pickup the 5th wheel I'd be staying in and coming back I see a life flight. I asked what happened and they said it was the third chopper to land since I left. It was a rough day at the track for a few. one bad kicker that they did remove at the end of the day for the race weekend. As saturday morning came, I didn't do unclassified. I knew the track from last yr and was confident. I got a bad Start in Production A but started picking up riders and by the final lap I was in 11th battling for tenth. unfortunately I pushed too hard in a corner and high sided into a sand burm. It took a minute to refire and when I finished I came in 12th which normally would be a qualifying spot except that Julie Russel woman's A rider had rode a faster race then me and 11th place thus bumping myself out of contention for qualifying.. On to Open A. Got a mid pack start remembered my lines and and by the end of the first lap I was in 5th. I held that position till the last lap making another pass for 4th place and definitely qualifying for Pro Am. after the Open race I found coolant leaking all over the front of the engine. the motor didnt want to start either by the starter dunno.gif it would bump start. Found that the upper coolant pipe bolt that retains it into the head came loose. (probably my fault since i replaced the o ring not to long ago) but took it over to my friend who is good with diagnosising YFZ's. thought I blew a head gasket. come to find out after checking the valves that I had a ground wire that had unplugged its self by the battery (DOH!) plugged it in and fired right up! Sunday's pro main event I came off the line last (wheelied off the gate, should have done a second gear start) but after the first lap I came thru the pits in 10th. the next lap in 9th. My luck hasn't been too good in the main and my bad luck struck again. Somehow either being hit by another rider or something had ripped my pipe right off between the mid pipe and the mount to the sub frame. (the mount was still attached as well as the the mid pipe to the head pipe). No one would loan me a slip on. It was very dissapointing. I really liked the WORCS course at Racetown. I had my first DNF of the season. icon_cry.gif well, now Im off to Milford, CA Honeylake Mx park about 8 hours north of Racetown on the same hwy 395. lol. Hope to qualify again for the pro-am there and hopefully get a top ten finish. Prayer's go out to Chase Snapp #622. had a horrible accident Friday.

wish I had more power to down side it. my motor this yr isnt as powerful but is more reliable. I went down from 13.5 to 1 to 12.8. can run 110 vp which is cheaper then C12. plus corked exhaust doesnt help power. It was a 4th gear pull. If I had more power it could clear the table before it running up to it and would of clicked into 5th and be able to down side it. it was a smooth landing up top.

Nice job bub, too bad about the DNF. My son said Chase is doing good just sore, several broken ribs and two punctured lungs. I guess they got the lungs inflated that night and he's just sore as hell.

Race report PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
GWTT
Well, Milford was exciting! Left thursday evening and pretty much slept friday all day except to prep the quad. Milford is about an hour north of Reno, Nevada at the base of Tahoe. It was very cold!!! I also didnt do practice because I was broke so i couldnt afford to do practice. I did unclassified saturday morning @ 8am and bent my rear brake rotor on the first lap of unclassified. pretty much went out and tried my best to remember the track.
around 11:15 am was the start of the production A race. As the flag dropped I came off 5th! My best start ever! as race the started it started a small snow flury but not enough to stick to the ground. Milford has a national motocross track like Glen helen but few jumps and varies in 500 feet in elevation changes, 2 creeks and some fast whoop'd out trails. After the first lap I again bent my rear brake rotor so no rear brakes. that would cost me about a position a lap. I would fall to 8th but fight for and regain 7th before the checkers flew after 50 minutes. This was the first time I had finished in the top 10 and qualified in Production. I had the rest of the day to rest, find a new brake rotor and prep for tomorrow's Pro Am main event.
Since I didnt qualify round 2, and dnf'd round 4 my Pro Am points were on the low side so I got 3rd to last gate pick. my start was horrible. I tried a 2nd gear start and it cost me. I was last off the line. as we entered the first creek bed, a rider stalled and made my pass around him. I caught a couple more riders and passing them up the next uphill section. as we came thru the pro pits towards the start/finish line I went wide to try and make a pass in which was a costly mistake and when the other two riders pushed wide, pushing me wide and getting wrapped in some rope literally tieing me to the quad. a bit embarrassing. a course worker had to untie me. it bent my throttle cable so the bike was revving on its own. i had to sit and work the kinks out of it. I would push hard to catch back up runnning thru the creek bed as fast as possible and I heard a clunck! I had hit a rock pretty hard to bend my rear rotor against the rear swing arm skid. thus havin no rear brakes. As I came down the first mx down hill it was all engine braking and front brakes. Kinda sketchy but I could manage. now when I got to the pro section (only ran during the pro race) was a goat hill, steep and slippery. I went down it pretty much out of control and felt lucky I didnt wreck. I knew I was going to need some type of rear brakes because I couldnt even pump it to get rear brakes. I would pit as soon as I made it to the pits. My crew bent the skid down and and best as possible to straighten the new rotor I just put on. Ben did a fantastic job eyecrometering it. thumb.gif Now I was pretty far back from the rest of the field (well over a minute) I would clear my head and run my race now and soon started catching riders and made it from 16th to gaining a position about every lap. I would charge down the creek as fast as possible and would pop the front end up in one section to clear some rocks but one lap I slipped and lost traction and landed on a rock where my right foot peg is, sheering off one of the two bolts that holds the peg to the quad. the other one bending the mount for the rear brake lever. it actually helped with my braking efforts but definitely damaged my quad. and when the when the checkered flag waived I had made it up all the way to 8th place in Pro-Am. After everything said and done now, My swing arm is cracked. need a new rear skid and brake rotor plus some misc parts for the caliper that are missing now. a throttle cable, some frame work. I think I have a bad ball joint too in the front end too. Racing is rough. And of course the next race is in two weeks in temecula. Im lucky to have great friends who can help me out with parts and labor at times.

Yea It would be nice to have a fresh everything but that isn't going to happen with my budget. I would love to keep riding Yamaha. Maybe if I can get into the top 10 in points in Pro-Am by the end of the season maybe I can get a support ride with Yamaha for next season since I seem to be the only Yamaha that qualifies for the Pro-Am.

Well, Its about time for me to post a race report. This round It was a blessing That my friend Roy w/ ITP tires and Big Kid Racing loaned me a swing arm to use since mine is toast. Also that My girlfriend's family decided to Come watch me race. We ate like kings. Something I normally don't do on a race weekend because of what little we have in the trailer to get by. I was hot! I did Friday's practice but only went out once. It was too hot. Just got the jumps down. Sitting by camp waiting for the sun to set a baby rattle snake came thru camp. That was the third one the neighboring camp saw that day. As Saturday came around, I did the unclassified race @8am and went over the bars in the first lap. I caught a tree root and pitched me sideways and over. the dirt was soft since they just blazed a trail for us. The track had never had a WORCS race. I was mostly fine except me agrivating my right shoulder (which I have dislocated several times). I Decided I had enough of the track and would wait for the production race. Around 11:15 am I had a good gate pick but a horrible start and found myself towards the back. In the first lap I couldnt see, It was silt and the water had dried from the morning's watering and went straight thru a berm I couldnt see thus stopping the quad and throwing me into the bushes. I remounted but was back of the A class pack. Then the second lap I stalled the quad. Once I got it going again I had to battle through some of the B class riders and also chase Past the Woman's A riders. I was in 13th and was about to pass 12th for the final qualifying position when there was a pileup on the last lap which made 1st to 17th all bunched up plus lapped riders. I tried to make a move but lapped riders made it to where I had no chance and finished 13th. Open A was later in the day and had a good start but i pinched myself into a bad spot and fell to the back quickly. I would be dehydrated and pretty much knew I had nothing to give and just to ride the best possible race. As the race would go on rider's started to fatique or break and I actually finished 6th. I was exhausted. Saturday night ate another hearty meal and drank water as if I were a fish. Sunday's Pro-Am race wasn't going to be fun.

I had 2nd to last gate pick for the main since well, I had the least amount of Pro-Am points and not the greatest of luck this season. As the gate dropped I found myself about 6th off the line bumping and banging bars I would come out 9th at the start/finish line. As I dumped down one of the ski jumps and set myself up for a sharp right hander I got a really nice shove from behind sending me into the mud and soft stuff. Don't worry the guy wavied in respect laughing.gif I got back on the track and tried for the next two laps to catch back up but most of the rider's qualified in the first race and had alot more to put into the next two hours then what I could physically do. I knew at this point was to ride at a pace to where I wouldnt be fast, but consistant and hopefully catch guys who would burn out over the next couple hours. Only one rider would DNF, and I only passed 4 riders during the course of 2 hours finishing 9th. I knew after my race I could have done better if I would have stuck to my training. I didn't know how welll it was working for me till I stopped going to the gym 3 days a week. It makes a huge difference in endurance and stamina. Even though it doesn't show in physical stature. With this race being over. I find my quad again broken. Frame is cracked pretty bad up top inbetween the upper shock mount and sub frame mount (nutorious on the YFZ to crack there) and also found my Gas tank to have stress cracked and is leaking. This season has been rough on the quad. Just hope I can Piece it together couple more times to make the next 3 rounds.

Round Seven of the WORCS ATV series would take place in Olympia, Washington. I was very excited to go to Washington. It is a unique riding spot. Lush forests and very damp atmosphere. It's a fast track with some narrow paths but overall a blast to ride. Running the series on a tight budget pays it's toll on equipment. I had to borrow a motor this round since mine wasn't able to be rebuilt in time for round 7. I have to thank Roy Bloodworth for the generous help. I was also very excited to hear SHIFT racing hooking me up with brand new 2011 gear. The gear i so comfortable and the fact they imprinted my last name and number made me feel like a pro!
Unfortunately this round was hit with a huge dose of bad luck. Our rig blew its transmission up on the way was just the start. then on Friday practice, I learned my rear shock Had been leaking nitrogen and wasn't working efficiently. Also the motor lost a critical pin which holds the third gear shift fork in place had come out and lost the ability to use 3rd gear. Luckily Doug Roll and the Elka Service Center was there to correct my rear shock issues. Those guys are fantastic!
Saturday Morning I run unclassified trying to learn what area's I'd have to stay in second or fourth gear and trying my best to memorize the track. I didn't walk it due to twisting my knee a week before at work. As production A race started I found myself at the very back of the 26 racer field. By the time the first lap ended I was in 15th! I would gain a few more positions then getting stuck in a small pile up and getting passed. Once I cleared that pileup I caught a couple riders but it was too late finishing one spot out of qualifying position settling for 13th.
I would later do Open A. Again another bad start. Not having 3rd gear was a struggle in certain areas but also helped in a way. Its a very slick track and many people were spinning out on the starts and other sections of the track. I had an even worse start coming through the first lap in 21st. then started picking my way through the field to 15th. the next lap 11th. On the final lap I Made my way into the top ten with less then a mile of track to go my chain had come off the rear sprocket! I hopped off and put it back on losing a couple positions. I tried to baby it through the last woods section but it would pop off again! I knew I was in danger of not qualifying so I had to try and finish. I could see the last turn and again the chain would derail. Observing the rear sprocket I could see the carrier bearings had blown out and was causing slop in the axle thus the chain derailing. I would finish in a disappointing 15th. My weekend was over racing. Pretty down after everything happening on the way up and prepping the weeks before stressing. I hope to rebound from this round and head to Glen Helen were I did very well in the B class last year and passed most of the A class there last season.

Right on! Nice outfit from Shift.

Hopefully that will help with better starts especially @ Glen Helen Next week. Nut and bolting it one more time sunday then its off to the races next Friday!

WOW! What a weekend! Friday's practice was warm but exceptable. It was only a 30 minute, then wait to hours then for an hour moto that was cut short when A fellow racer wrecked hard breaking his left ankle. It was pretty nasty! I called it a day. Saturday was well, the best Race I've had all season long and the Finish to Prove it. I attained my first podium finish! 3rd in production A. It was hot around 95 degrees. It was nice having the whole rest of the day to rest and prep. While preping the quady for sunday, my coolant overflow was empty and the radiator was low on coolant. It had boiled over in the qualifier. no head gasket leaks as of yet. As the gate dropped Sunday @ noon, it was 109 DEGREES! I got off to a decent start and just tried to keep pace. Glen Helen had gotten much rougher since Saturday morning and much hotter. We used all the hills, a bridge, a goat trail, the Lucas off road series off road carr track, washes Endurocross (which one log I kept getting stuck on and probably cost me about a lap's worth in time over the course of the two hour race). At the last two laps I cased a double and saved from wreckin' but my caf muscles had locked up hard and my hands had blown up! I was physically done and rode till the finish. When the race was over I found myself in 9th place in Pro-Am. It's not my best Pro Am finish but I feel it's been the best race weekend for me. My family (and gf's family met for the first time) I finished the races w/o any mishaps and had some friends from GD.com come out and support me. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Orange R and FireBall for coming out. I don't think I would have made it over another log if it weren't for you Ben. Also Met another Gd.com member who rode in one of the C classes but forgot his name. He's a prawler on the board ph34r.gif anyways. here's a few photo's and a video link! You know you would have made it over 10 more logs if you had to Steven, you didn't put up with the heat and the course to give up in the last 20 minutes. I only wish I had gone there Saturday also and seen the orange R's.
