That is, until I come up with a better name!

I know, I know, just what we need, another freikin animal!!

But he was in the pound, and so darn cute!!

I couldn't resist, I tried, honest! He is some sort of lab/shepard/retriever mix. He seems to have been harshly treated, but they didn't get any training mixed in with that. He is very good at slinking and darting, two of my least favorite things. He is about two years old, just had the babymakers lopped yesterday, and is laying beside me in my office as we speak. I am so glad to work at a place that welcomes doggies!

Cheers

and thank you from another animal lover for being so kind as to provide a safe & loving home! Sweetie-pie I love watching an animal like that come out of their shell and learn to trust and love hug.gif

wub.gif Awesome.. I bet when he's comfie knowing he's permanent he'll loose the less than favorable qualities and become the best friend ever.. He reminds me of Angel and Turbo the King & Queen Glamis have.. Good for you....

Nope, Sissy is for 'sister', but then it turned out that was her personality, Abigail the bloodhound, cuz it fit, Gus the bloodhound cuz it fit, Popeye the pug... well... keen observance of the obvious there, but I didn't name him...

we don't have the Bloodhounds no more tho..
Scataloni
well you kinda have a people name thing happening as well as personality choices.. You want him to be less scardy and more protective.. I'd look up some strong names and toss them out to him..
I have a Hobo (black Lab) named because I got him through an animal rescue. After his second night with us he got out through a hole the boy had dug when he was out going potty. Our paper delivery person spotted him and took him home. Luckily when I called the paper they contacted him and he returned him to us with an apology (he even heard me calling my pup but felt he should have him). Threw lots of names around and silly dog perked up when I said he was a little hobo tryin to skip out on us. So his name stuck. Then there is Cheyenne the boxer (who will be 4 in a few days) she also perked up when we threw names at her.. Animals in my world get what they respond to icon_biggrin.gif I even had a Tomas Mitten Kitten Cat when I was a kid..

here's a thought... and yeah you'll probably thing lame but Buddy would be a good name.

I went to a baby name with the meaning site and came up with:
The boy's name Wyatt \wya-tt\ is pronounced WY-ut. It is of Old English origin, and its meaning is "war strength". Wild West Sheriff Wyatt Earp.

The boy's name Eli \e-li\, also used as girl's name Eli, is pronounced EE-lye. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "high". Biblical: Eli was a priest and judge who brought up the prophet Samuel. Popular among Puritans in the 17th century.

The boy's name Gerard \ge-ra-rd\ is pronounced je-RARD. It is of Old English origin, and its meaning is "spear brave". Closely related to Gerald. The name of numerous saints. Gerardo is a Spanish form; Gerhard is German. And a varriant is Garrett (which I think is a cool name)

Thanks! Buddy is a good name, specially since we have Sissy already, but mom-in-law has medium black dog named Buddy. Mama likes dog names that end in the 'E' sound, I originally named him 'Chance', french for 'luck', because he rescued him, and also on the day we picked him up, I sold two cranes(commish baby!!!), so it was a lucky day all the way round, but that name is hard to remember, so it is not right... kinda like our boy bloodhound was named Buford when we got him, and it just didn't flow right.

gotcha.. I have always sounded names out to fit either in a positive or stern tone.

Maybe Jerry - short for Gerald
LOL how about Harry (since he's gonna make you nuts when he sheds)
D.O.N.E.
Tad, short for Libertad, spanish for liberty going with the sprung from the pound idea laughing.gif

For some reason he looks like a Carson to me though dunno.gif

Carson, eh? hmmm... not bad, I kinda like it... Another option brought to me by our office manager, was Shadow

Little Boy has been through a number of names in the past week, poor lil bastad anyways, but he has settled on Skooter.... you can all go back to living your normal lives now!! smile.gif

He actually is turning into a darn nice little dog, but he has little phobias or maybe just goes into vaporlock. He is so sensitive, that when I am training him, if my voice goes up into what is more of a command voice, he locks up. Or sometimes he just doesn't want to do something JUST because I want him to. Odd, but it is all a process. I will definitely get boned up on my patience skills. I have never had a dog as skittish as he is.

many happy days to you and yours

He looks alot like our dog Bacon

He seems to have the same personality also. He is a little skittish, but more weird. Just does things sometimes that makes you scratch your head head and wonder WTF?. I think it might just be a trait from whatever breed they have in common. Bacon always crosses his front legs when he lays down and gets very butthurt if he thinks your being unruly in the way you "request" him to do something.

As far as protection, very ninja like. If your a stranger bent on doing wrong, our other male will be right in your face coming after you (he is the samurai), bacon will be sneaking up behind you and you'll never see him until he has a mouthful of your a$$. He also likes to herd everything, especially running kids.

As far as the bandage, the two males decided Thanksgiving night at around midnight was a good time to settle a difference they had dunno.gif

Congradulations does Skooter get along with Oliver? I like dogs and cats. I have two cats, no dogs. I work 12 hour shifts and that would be to hard on the dog for me to have one.

Thanks! He is a cool dog that I am seeming to bond with. I just have to reign in my impatience and remember how sensitive he is.

I would like to foster dogs, because I really like the training and such that goes along with it, but I don't know how to get into it. Big dogs tho, no yappers...

Spoiled?? Who's spoiled??

Update on Skooter. He is just turning into about the most perfect dog ever. but....................

He is a total scaredycat, I need some ideas on how to help him get over his fear.

He is so petrified of people who are not in our family. We can go for walks and he does *okay* with one or two people if we stop and talk to them, and if they do not make any moves toward him he will actually get curious after a few minutes and start check them out, but a group of people scare him senseless.

We had a family dinner at our home this last weekend and he was just slinking around the yard, scared to death that some one was going to try and attack him. By the end of the day, 2 people out of 16 were able to approach him, but none of the others.

He shows no sign of ever even thinking of nipping or biting, no aggression what so ever. I just wish I could find a way of making him more secure. He is such a cool dog, but no one else gets to see his personality.

He has done so much for me, as far as teaching me patience, because his training had to be so gentle, I would like to help him see the world isn't as scarey as he thinks.
