Full Version: What Toy Hauler Should I Buy?
GlamisDunes.com > Trucks, Jeeps and RV's > RV Technical > Toy Haulers
LV Manxter
I have an '04 F150 FX4 with the 5.4L V8, tow package, WD bars, airbags and antisway. The owner's manual says my truck is rated to tow a trailer up to 7700 lbs GVWR. My current trailer loaded with my Manx is about 4500 lbs and does fine.

I am now in the market for a Toy Hauler. I need at least 12' (but would prefer 13') of cargo area for my Manx. The car weighs about 1900 lbs. From what I can find, it looks like I'm limited to the Carson Funrunners if I am going to stay under the GVWR of 7700 lbs. I've heard WW used to make a "Super Light" but I can't find any specs on that.

Any suggestions?

all of the manufactures make a "lightweight" trailer. rv.net has a listing of all of the manufactures in the Toy Hauler section

I just bought an 09' Skyline Weekender 187W 18ft.....It has a dry weight of 4700 lbs and a max weight of 7700 lbs.....Sounds like it might work for you, u may need a little more cargo space for the Manx though

Just to warn you. I have a 20' Fun Runner and tow with a 1500 Silverado 5.3. The Fun Runners are heavier than they look. I only put one quad in mine with 60 gal of water and misc other things and it adds up quick. Over the past few years it has taken a toll on my truck. Transmission issues mostly. Try and stick with a Superlite, if you got the extra money.

I have the same setup. Carsons are tanks, but i would rather have a well built trailer than a paper mache (sp) WW super light. I also tow with a 5.3 but with a rhino in it, full water, built in genny, 25 fuel tank, 20 gal of gas cans, ice chests etc..

You should be able to find a nice 20-22ft titan/fun runner that will fit your needs. Gonna be slow tow with a 1/2 ton, but it would be like that towing anything with a 1/2 ton.

Look around for a used Ragen xtra-lite FK 1900 or FK 2100. They are great trailers.

Another with a titan it is heavier than the superlites but at least you wont have any tongue issues.I heard they are about 5300 pounds with the options minus the gen.I think they are listed at 4400 pounds or around there but thats with no a/c,dinettes,rear bed or any options just a bare bones trailer.

I tow mine with a 250hd and its a great trailer just heavier than most think.
