My question is this. My moho needs a new fuel pump. It is on a Generac generator. The original replacement part is $109 plus tax and shipping. I can buy a 12 volt fuel pump at my local auto parts store for about $30. Is there any reason why I can't do this? Please let me know if you know. Please no guessing. I don't want my next trip out to be without a generator. Thanks. I don't mind spending the money if it is neccasary.

I have the Generac Primepac 50G, and the fuel pump on it is just a regular old Facet fuel pump. Are you sure the pump is shot? There are usually 2 fuel filters, one before and one after the pump. Have you checked those to make sure they are not clogged?

Yes, the pump is running like crazy and there is no suction and nothing coming out of the other side. That is with the lines off. No pressure or suction on either side.

With no liquid in it, I don't think you'll feel any pressure coming out of it. Try priming it with a rubber hose on the input side just to see what happens. You're probably right, but it doesn't hurt to double check.
