Full Version: Patton's Getting Deep?

Just wondering. We come up to Patton's Saturday PM about an hour and half before dark. We see some nice rails racing up the hill, they start in the normal spot and out of no where a yellow quad hits the hill about the time they get to the base of it. One rail had to cut out of the race. It happened twice in a row. From our view you couldn't even see the quads tip of the whip, so I know the rails couldn't see him.

Maybe they need spotters. Don't want a debate just want some obversation of land formation. Does it seem like the dip from the bottom of Pattons main drag area is getting deeper? Or did that quad have a really short whip on?

Been that way for a long time. Back in 2002 my mom got pictures of a quad getting hit by a rail when the quad was going perpendicular to the hill down below the ridge. The rail had been taking the same line for over 15 minutes, and while he should have had a spotter it was also plainly obvious to anyone with a measure of common sense that riding in the lee of that ridge was a BAD idea. From where I was the quad became completely invisible and I was at a better vantage point than the rail.

I don't know why I never really noticed it before. I guess when I am usually out there early afternoon there are more quads starting more at the back and top where the rails can see them. This night the quad was starting off at the very base. Both times I was really glad nothing bad happened.

There was a big piece of concrete at the base a few years ago is that still visable ??? If not I would say it's been deeper.
