My sun and my nephew both have identical quads. The quads are mini raptors, both stock and the same year. I am running Sand Gecko's on my suns and my nephews quad still has the stock tires. The kids are only six weeks apart in age. I have noticed that my sun keeps lagging behind when we take them out into the dunes. I just figured that my nephew was a better rider. After several times out and my sun not being able to keep up I decided to test the paddles, thinking that they where to big and slowing him down. We stoped at a hill and my brother and I raced each other on our kids bikes up the hill. My brother and I are twins so we are the same size and weight just like our kids are. My brother (w/stock tires) was able to climb about 15" further then Me with Sand Geckos. We did the race three times with the same results.

That little engine (80cc, right?) isn't going to have the balls to muscle around a set of paddles, regardless of brand, no way, no how, no sir. And, the Geckos are some of the heaviest tires I've come across...

Yeah, the gecko's are way heavy. I just got some sand stars and they are sweet, a lot lighter than the gecko's. I agree with Oregon Dune Runner and get the gliders or air down the stock tires.

The skat trak gliders work great! My best friend and his brother have predator 90's for their kids. The stock tires had no air and the sidewalls were so stiff they didn't bulge. They got stuck alot. They added gliders on each bike and it was a night and day difference. The quads go almost everywhere now.
SHOCKER
My nepthew ride a lt80 and he goes anywhere he wants, some times he gets stuck or doesnt have enough momentum, there stock nobbies, but he does great at buttercup

My dauther has duro tires on her scrambler .I think that you can get them at rockey mountian atv the have square knobs on the face and on the sides I wonder why polaris quit using them? Hers have held up great. She has moved on to a honda 300 ex she cought on to the clutch pretty quick.I'm holding off on getting her paddles intil she gets used to the bike.

I have been looking at these. The paddles are small and flexable. The Geckos are way to stiff and the paddles are to big. I run 0 air pressure in all the tires just to try and get the bike to ride better. The shocks on these small bikes really suck.

I've got Sand Stars on the back and air down my stocks in the front. They work great. Personally, I don't keep much weight on my front tires so I think fronts are a waste.
SHOCKER
we are talking about small quads but thats ok

I have some 18" geckos for sale that havent been used for $80

My son rides a trx90 without paddles. He weighs about 65 lbs and I told him to "stay her" when I went up the back side to the top of China wall at an angle so I could see if the rest of my gang was down below on the steep side. When I got to the top i looked back and he was right on my tail, followed me up! I cussed him and he said he didn't hear me to stay. I was impressed! The only time it bogs is when he starts at an angle, then it digs in and gets stuck.

I think paddles are a waste of money for the little quads......
Kevin
paddles for small bikes are ok as long as you get the right paddle. gecko paddles suck period!! all they do is dig, and you get stuck on any quad.
SHOCKER
Yeah i like the gliders but they are expensive
