I almost bought a new one of these but decided to go ahead and powder coat it anyways. Glad I did. It came out really clean looking. At least it will do until I have the extra cash for a billet one.
BEFORE:

AFTER:

Installed a new bearing and seals for the steering stem, Just waiting for the new O-rings to come in the mail for the top mount

As you can see there's not much installed because I'm still waiting for parts to come in that are holding me up.
I did install the rear brake MC and the CDI/Rect./Coil

I should get a lot of stuff done this weekend!
I did drop the motor off with a friend that is going to go through both carbs and clean them out, Swap out all the fuel line and return lines. I also had a broken shift linkage internally and he's going to fix that.

Wow!, this is turning out sweet. I'm bummed though as that's the color scheme I'm planning to do with my new frame someday.
Oh well, I don't mind being called a Copy Cat when the original looks so sweet.
Keep the pictures coming man.

Ordered some more parts yesterday
New A-Arm bolts and sleeves
New kickstarter rebuild kit
New shock bolts
Placed a bid on a new chain 120Links D.I.D.
Got in the mail the other day my new rear brake rotor, and all the fuel line "Blue"
Today I continued to repaint my front brake rotors and I redid my wiring loom tape job.

I cut this wire down and soldered it together for a good connection.

and the final look

This is looking mighty fancy. I really want to re-paint and detail my frame and suspension. Are there any threads about powdercoating stock a-arms and dissasembling stock shocks? It looks like you were able to take everything on your suspension apart. Is that all after market. Some of it looked to be stock. I have an 01 Raptor that I am cool leaving the stock stuff on. I just want a more custom look.

Got some bad news over the weekend from my engine builder. He called and told me that I had a blown head gasket and a pinched O-Ring. Basically as of right now I need a new top end. He was still tearing it apart so he doesn't know if the crank is still good. Also the main reason I took it to him was for a shifting issue. He thought that it was just the shift fork that broke, Turns out that part was fine and it's actually something inside that trans.
This was not what I wanted to hear!!!!!
So, I'm going to continue to put back together the bike but the motor is "Slowly" going to get put back together $$$. Looks like I won't be taking this bike out for New Years!
On a good note. I did get me rhino wiring harness back over the weekend. So hopefully all goes well with that and I'll be taking the rhino to Glamis for New Years!!!

Funny you say that because 2 years ago before the rhino project we looked at the Banshee and talked about doing a FULLOn custom LT with new Pivot points on the front a-arms. Talking about a lot of travel but didn't do it. This Banshee project I'm doing now is just to clean it up so I get a little more respect from my friends. There always talking mad crap on my bike because I never ride it or clean it much. Too busy with the Rhino.
As far as the motor, I found out it's just a top end and a internal shifting fork. The crank is good. So a new top end , all new seals and gaskets, send the head out and cleaned up for new pistons and rings. The head is already ported as far as it can be, It's got Vampire porting done and the case has been ported to match. Gonna also have the carbs taken apart and cleaned up. Gonna get a New clutch since all the springs were broke when he took it apart.

There used to be a video of youtube that showed one of these hitting whoops. It was a great video.
And here are some pics of one of the sickest Banshees I have ever seen...

Hey feedmelies, who's Banshee is that?
I have one of Dean's frames, but am looking for shock dimensions. Works wants more than I can afford so I'm trying to get dimensions
to get prices from other companies.

Looks good Pismonut ! I wish I would of done my swing arm in black instead of blue.
So the latest update-
The cylinder head is in the machine shop getting done
Pistons are on order and to be picked up on Tuesday
Received the correct color A-Arm bushings (this was holding up the front suspension install)
other then that.....Nothing. Reason for that is because the RHINO has finally been completed and all my time has been invested in last minute details and test runs.
I do plan on having this done for Pres. weekend so I will be posting some major update photos next week.
Thanks for sticking around guys!!

Sorry for not updating this thread......I've been enjoying my rhino so much now that it running I haven't spent time on the Banshee.
Today i ordered my new clutch, new needle valves, more bolts , new shift shaft, seals, spacers and nuts from Yamaha. I actually started to finish assembling my front suspension when I realized that I'm missing one of the spacers that goes inside the front A-Arm bushing. Figures ! I lost it, I know I ordered all new ones but since my rhino has been overriding the garage I misplaced it. I should have the rear suspension put back together this weekend.
My engine builder just picked up the head from the machine shop and also picked up a complete gasket kit.
I'll post up some pics this weekend for you guys.

Ok, So I did a little prepping on the rear suspension tonight. I knocked out the old 1998 Bushings (went through the sand Blaster too) and replaced them with brand new Yamaha OEM seals and races.

Here's a pic of the Lower dog link with one old bearing race in and one removed.

Installled the New OEM Zerk grease fittings

I love wrenching/build pics!
For needle style bearings like this i use a socket same size, press them out by applying pressure with C clamp.

What PSI should the front shocks be set at? Or I guess what would be a good average starting PSI ? I released all the Nitrogen when we were getting the springs off by hand. They are older Works 2 Coil shocks.
Also I'm going to cut my rear fenders down like yours xxQuikSandxx . What's the best method to do this?
feedmelies
Mar 10 2010, 06:17 PM
Try using a rotary tool. Then you can use sand paper and run a lighter across the edge to really smooth it out.

I am pretty sure Works run 150psi in their fronts, you might want to call them to confirm.

Got some more stuff put on the bike today. also tightened up all the front suspension. Just need to get a couple more new cotter pins for the tie rods.

got the other side spindle finally mounted

installed the front brake calipers

installed the tie rods and aligned the front end

installed the front bumper and braided brake lines. I didn't like how dirty and gumed up the brake line bolts were So I ordered new ones from Yamaha. Gonna have to wait until they show up to finally hook up the lines.

Tried to install the rAdiator but I'm confused on how the lower mounts go on..????.....?????
