Weddle HV-I'S IN STOCK 514 ring and pinions $6995 call for gear ratios 1-4 and sraptor.gif mulitple purchase discount .
scotty_
is the cv flange width the same as a 091 ?

or if you do a swap from a 091 would you need diff axle length ?
buddalo
What about the mounting. Is it the same as a mendeola 2d?

Thanks

Buddie

I read in the other threads that it has the same mounting as the 2D. More than likely it's the same width also. An 091 is wider than a 2D.

Had the chance to look at this vs a 2d side by side at the Arizona Dirt show.

Seems like it would be a good choice. No need for slave cylinder. Options on the ratios all at the same price. Better case design (I am no engineer, just looks more stout) and a bigger reverse. The 2D is slightly cheaper, but in the long run, the few hundred that you would save has offsets. IMHO.

If you are thinking 2D definitely worth a long hard look at this unit.

Compared to the old 2D case or the brand new one?

here are some pics I took of these was talking with the guys from weddle too. The case seems very strong has a big internal rib on the bottom no external ribs needed so case is smaller than a 2d cv flanges can be 3/4" lower than a 2d. also the case is closed off from the bellhousing not open like most trans. they made the shift linkage to now face foward not side shift. They are not recommending them for v8's right now want to have more testing done first. seems like a nice piece for the money. I think i remember him saying not the same mounting as a 2d but not positive.

Looks like a 5 rib on steroids.
but If I'm spending the dough, It better have the gears of a s4?
desertbound
IMO it is direct competition with the 2d, so why would it have s4 gears???? It is another great option for an entry level trans. An S4 is not an entry level trans. It already has a full sized reverse gear, right? That is worth the couple hundred extra over the mendi.

Yeah... I was wondering when someone was going to comment on it. We're transaxle builders, not MD's.

Thanks saychz316

Really looking for more groind clearance laugh1.gif

Heard there was an HV-1HD, for V-8s.

So really, ina 2600 lb car, with 500 H, sand and desert..which trans would you use.

We didn't win the lotto yet, so be kind.
madweazl
They certainly look impressive.

IMHO the 2d is a waste, and to compete with it would be a waste.
The EBox has proven to be a reliable trans behind even beginning v8 range 350 horse.
At 1-1500 less money then a 2d, not to mention it has been around for a long time.

If this thing has the same gear and rp size as a 2d then why reinvent the wheel.

I think that there needs to be a economical reliable trans solution for a stock ls2 at under 5-6 grand.
Anything else seems like a waste of effort IMHO
I mean look at it like this car companies can make whole cars for under 6 thousand bucks, yet we can make a trans?
dirtking404
i have a 400 hp ls1 do you have an hv-1 for it yet? i really dont want a 2d if i did id use it for a boat anchor lol.

Didn't get a response to my earlier post...so I'll try again.

Right now, the HV-1 is advertised for 4 cyl/6 cyl cars, but I know of a car being built, weight over 2400 lbs, pre-runner for the desert, will hundreds of miles, with a 500 HP V-8 being bolted to it. Word I've got is that the car owner knows the tranny will hold, and of course has an in with the Weddle gang.

So how long must they "test" before they say it's good?

The case seems stout enough, but using "bus parts" I'm not sold on that.

I talked with ron at weddle they are putting one in adams prerunner w/ a v8 for testing . I dont see a mild v8 being a problem, there are people w/2-d s that have 500 + horse power and make them live!
