The drivers at the drags put peoples lives at risk by running 100+ mph down the drags with nothing protecting themselves or the spectators from a part failure. Not all, but a lot of Buggy mfgs. are guys that can weld and own a tubing bender, they don't know the first thing about safety or how to properly triangulate a car. I hope that x bracing in the roof makes you feel safe.... haha. Tires that are not safe at that speed. NUTS!!!! All what I know is the three biggest weekends of the year we've been out there having the time of our life ...I could not be any happier with Tatum our the cars performance ....I gave a half of dozen rides and I'm sure in the next couple of months we will be seeing some more Tatum Prerunner builds starting. The time we raced Kevin I could only get the car on low boost... rite before that I was talking to Andrew and we agreed we wouldn't race because neither car was performing proparly.....then the next thing I notice Andrew and Kevin our running and I tell myself I better go race our everyone going to say I was scared Lol....I had myself and Wild Bill in the car so we were tipping the scales at about 3900lbs Kevin's black widow had the light bar removed the backseats out ...he was defiantly skinny Lol ....Friday we had c-16 and it was on we ran a couple times against Old school in his Turbo hayabusa good races but the course sucked .....When I first got there I saw the black and silver racer but didn't get to line up with him but everyone said he was running good...I must of made 20 passes on Friday Lol....The best thing of all was that we had six days in the sand and the car still drove on the trailer for the third trip in a row,cant wait until Prez weekend we should have the green machine back out ....Virginia is really getting mad at me racing her car so much. O ya call it what you want Tatums own the drags...

Damn you big ballers..........us little guys will have to go back to the drawing boards....... I think my 383 is just not going to cut it. Anyway, you know i love to run the drags even if my car is not even half as fast as yours.... Yours pisses me off cuz its stupid fast and gorgeous. To each his own!...............Sure I like the "speed parade"...........to call them drags is an insult to anyone who has actually competed in a real sanctioned drag race. What gets me a bit is the unchained, no limit, obnoxious EGOS of some of you guys! I mean really!!!! Do you think you are responsible for crowds at the drags? That is laughable! I've gone to Glamis almost my entire life and there has always been huge crowds, even when we were lucky to push 200hp. We were "KILLIN IT" also however, we never thought we were the reason people showed up...LOL.
Fact of the matter is that there is no special skill required to run a rail fast in a straight line. The only thing needed is a thick wallet ...........there is however a ton of skill reqiured to run a sandcar fast in the dunes ............If you think different then your wallet is clouding your mind!

Damn... I wish Ralph (dunes Edge) was still around with his 2 seat mid engine SU. Thing had a 20B on alcohol. That car whipped the everlovin schiot out of ever car in the dunes AND the drag... And STILL would IMHO!!!! King Glamis wrote a full page article in Sand Sports Mag on that car years ago. It was a cool piece

I like to dune just as much as the next guy and I also like to make a run or 2 down the drags. The really fast guys (like Aaron) sure as hell do have driving skills to run as fast as they do and keep it under control. Try it sometime and you just might find out that your little duner isn't so damn hard to drive afterall! What a d-bag for the name calling BTW!

This tread was about fast cars at the sand drags, so you were not suckered into clicking on a thread with a different topic. So in my "opinion" if you think the Glamis Sand Drags are not "pure" enough for you, then don't click on the thread... It's just that simple.

I'll forget that you have an interest in customer base here for a second and say that this topic is a "DI@K" measuring contest with the ruler being the size of your motor! ....... Somehow, I don't think anyone really considers the sand drags at Glamis to be a "real" drag race. Cuz, like, there's no light tree, and nobody knows exactly how long the "track" is, and there's no optical trap at the end, and no finish line cameras, and not really, like, you know, a finish line....

But it's been called the sand drags since before I was born, and that's what it's called, and that's what it's gonna continue to be called.

If nothing else, "Hey, you wanna go to the drags this evening?" is easier to say than "Hey, you wanna go to that spot over by Gecko Road where everybody lines up and people drive their toys down the line as fast as they can this evening?"

It is what it is. And what it is is the Glamis sand drags. What it ain't is a drag race.

And that's OK.
