Does it make you " drag guys " mad that a little 4 cyl. Funco would whip your butts out in the dunes? I guess I just don't get it. The drivers at the drags put peoples lives at risk by running 100+ mph down the drags with nothing protecting themselves or the spectators from a part failure. Not all, but a lot of Buggy mfgs. are guys that can weld and own a tubing bender, they don't know the first thing about safety or how to properly triangulate a car. I hope that x bracing in the roof makes you feel safe.... haha. Tires that are not safe at that speed. NUTS!!!! I hope you guys carry large life insur. and atleast 60 plus million in liability insur, cause one part failure and or a driving error and you are going to kill 20 plus people and all your big dollars are gone. Kids, moms and fathers are in that crowd. I think the name "baller" should be changed to "boner". Want to show people how much money you have and how good of driver you are, then go to a race track and put your money where your mouth is.

No, I do not think I am a better driver, fab man or that I have a faster car. I just know what I know. And if you want to know more about me and my back groud, then you can PM me. AND NO I CAN'T SPELL!

There's nothing that a little Captain can't cure.....

umm ,i dont think your theory is working for you , perhaps a little more may do the trick . somehow you have determined your the fastest guy in the dunes ? what drunkometer are you using to gauge that with ? perhaps a recalibration is in order . in the dunes or the drags there is always the possibility that an injury can occur . cresting a dune at any speed can be dangerous . the mix of atv's and cars alone is a potential for disaster . and my friend that same lawsuit can apply for the person found to be at fault . thank you for all the advice it seems very well thought out . tim

Wow great post lots of good points....but last I checked nobody forces anyone to go to the drags! Why do you make a statement about a 4cyl Funco beating a dual sport car thru the dunes ? I think if a so called "Baller " wanted a 4cyl Funco they would go to Grant and say I want the Fastest Funco ever made and could I rent Chad to drive it for the weekend.....its like who cares ,everyone has different things they like to do at Glamis and if the drags aren't your cup of tea then don't go....The guys that I know aren't going to the drags to show everyone how much money they have their going because its fun to put their car up against another car to see who will come out victories with all the different combinations...some have 30k invested some have 300k it all what floats you're boat....

All what I know is the three biggest weekends of the year we've been out there having the time of our life ...I could not be any happier with Tatum our the cars performance ....I gave a half of dozen rides and I'm sure in the next couple of months we will be seeing some more Tatum Prerunner builds starting. The time we raced Kevin I could only get the car on low boost... rite before that I was talking to Andrew and we agreed we wouldn't race because neither car was performing proparly.....then the next thing I notice Andrew and Kevin our running and I tell myself I better go race our everyone going to say I was scared Lol....I had myself and Wild Bill in the car so we were tipping the scales at about 3900lbs Kevin's black widow had the light bar removed the backseats out ...he was defiantly skinny Lol ....Friday we had c-16 and it was on we ran a couple times against Old school in his Turbo hayabusa good races but the course sucked .....When I first got there I saw the black and silver racer but didn't get to line up with him but everyone said he was running good...I must of made 20 passes on Friday Lol....The best thing of all was that we had six days in the sand and the car still drove on the trailer for the third trip in a row, cant wait until Prez weekend we should have the green machine back out ....Virginia is really getting mad at me racing her car so much. wife.gif O ya call it what you want Tatums own the drags...

Racer's little truck can kick a Funco's AZZ through the dunes. Have driven and ridden in both. No question in my mind.

just curious, i dont run the hill or the drags but do i watch ( hell ya ) they start running usually everyone is at a safe distance and as the day goes on the lines move in what are the guys running to do, stop and say enough ? do you want to close the hill also ? who is anyone to say how to spend their time in glamis everyone pays for their hobby like you what do you care. if you dont like the tv program switch the channel and while your at it you might want to stop the 5th gear runs to duners delight, sand highway, and the hill. my only issue with you is and trust me im a broke dikk okay is how is this any of yours, mine, or anyones elses business. if you keep you and yours away from all these problem spots there will never be a issue unless your like me hauling arse to get there and watch the show, jmo, farmdog.

To each his own!...............Sure I like the "speed parade"...........to call them drags is an insult to anyone who has actually competed in a real sanctioned drag race. What gets me a bit is the unchained, no limit, obnoxious EGOS of some of you guys! I mean really!!!! Do you think you are responsible for crowds at the drags? That is laughable! I've gone to Glamis almost my entire life and there has always been huge crowds, even when we were lucky to push 200hp. We were "KILLIN IT" also however, we never thought we were the reason people showed up...LOL.
Fact of the matter is that there is no special skill required to run a rail fast in a straight line. The only thing needed is a thick wallet ...........there is however a ton of skill reqiured to run a sandcar fast in the dunes ............If you think different then your wallet is clouding your mind!

I dont know how many of you actually met any of these guys. I run a 6cyl honda in my sand car I can't even think of keeping up with these guys. I have duned with Aaron and let me tell you he is one of the nicest guys you would ever meet. If you see him parked at the drags or anywhere else he is happy to talk to everyone. I have met some of the other big hp guys and I have nothing but good to say about most of them.

Yup Aaron looks like a big scary guy but he is the nicest guy you would ever meet.

Agreed....Raph's (Dunes Edge) crazy turbo mazda (with a 2D and 930's!) was the fastest thing I have ever seen at the drags in the last 10 years.
He even made the Green car look sick a time or two which I know wasn't really the case.
I would love to see that car show up to race some of the new cars out there...would be very interesting for sure!
BansheeBoy914
i remember that car as well, we were parked next to it one day at the drags, watched him make a couple passes, throw it completely sideways about 3/4 down the drags, and then drive out of it, haven't seen the car since...
Booshy
I would love to see pictures of this car or read the article?? Anyone know were I could find it..

X2! If you don't like the "drags" then just go duning! To each his own...
I like to dune just as much as the next guy and I also like to make a run or 2 down the drags. The really fast guys (like Aaron) sure as hell do have driving skills to run as fast as they do and keep it under control. Try it sometime and you just might find out that your little duner isn't so damn hard to drive afterall! What a d-bag for the name calling BTW!

The only name calling in this thread is by you for the d-bag comment. I've owned numerous cars and a few of them could haul the mail down the drags so give me a break. It takes no special skill to point a car straight and smash the throttle....wake up!

I agree! Alot of people running the drags think they are alot cooler than the spectators actually think they are. It takes alot more skill to dune at a rapid pace then run down the drags with 1000+hp, 25"+ of travel and 38" tires in a 3000lb car.
ANGRYBUTTCRACK
Skill or not.. the drags terrify me.. I was 'setting up' for a run.. about to hit it and then noticed a mini-row of flags.. creeped up to the lip and a set of quads are stopped on the other side of the lip.

I won't be running without my boy EMPIRE X-5 spotting on car-to-car.

Oh.. bump for an awesome Tatum (this is an add, correct)?

To each his own!...............Sure I like the "speed parade"...........to call them drags is an insult to anyone who has actually competed in a real sanctioned drag race. Hmmm... What about the guy can "dune" and spank you at the drags? Does that automatically mean he has a big ego and wallet? But forget that for a second... This tread was about fast cars at the sand drags, so you were not suckered into clicking on a thread with a different topic. So in my "opinion" if you think the Glamis Sand Drags are not "pure" enough for you, then don't click on the thread... It's just that simple.

Sand Drags......LOL......I've participated in real sand drags and until there is a Xmas tree with lights to start and timing this is nothing more than a SPEED PARADE!.... but nice try Zilla!

Somehow, I don't think anyone really considers the sand drags at Glamis to be a "real" drag race. Cuz, like, there's no light tree, and nobody knows exactly how long the "track" is, and there's no optical trap at the end, and no finish line cameras, and not really, like, you know, a finish line....

But it's been called the sand drags since before I was born, and that's what it's called, and that's what it's gonna continue to be called.

If nothing else, "Hey, you wanna go to the drags this evening?" is easier to say than "Hey, you wanna go to that spot over by Gecko Road where everybody lines up and people drive their toys down the line as fast as they can this evening?"

It is what it is. And what it is is the Glamis sand drags. What it ain't is a drag race.

And that's OK.

Hey! News flash!... I'm out of the "sand" business now. I'm strictly asphalt cars and engines so I have no "customer base" here. So I think the "nice try" is all on you! pixie.gif
