How many good trips can you get from a chain? It seems like every 3-5 Glamis trips the chain will stectch to a point that I cant adjust my tire rearward any more. I have taken out links but it will be so flexy it will start to chew apart my paddle and mud guard. I know Glamis is hell on a chain but it is getting ridiculous.
Also, what types of chians you running? I have bought a renthal non o-ring the last 2 times and they have been horrible out there. I ran a DID chain before and it did a little better.

Never rode my 2 wheeler in the sand but I run a DID thats been handling my supermoto miles pretty gracefully. Sorry that is actually no help at all huh.

Get a DID Gold X ring chain and it'll last you all season and then some. I also recommend using a rear ironman sprocket setup. I just did 350 miles in Baja doing some pretty brutal terrain and I never had to adjust my chain once. I do alot of offroad racing and this setup lasts a long time for me.

The cheaper chains, even the o ring chains just don't last under the stress a paddle tire and sand put em under. The DID X-ring or Tsubaki Omega o-ring chains have given me the longest life, even being pushed by a 450 four stroke or CR500 and ridden agressively. The plus side of o-ring chains is you don't have to lube them as much as a non o-ring chain.

On both of those chains, they will stretch once then be good for the season or so before I have to adjust them again. 3 years or longer can be expected out of em if taken care of.

x2 on the good quality o-ring. getting ready to replace mine after 4 years. only adjusted it 2 or 3 times. chain still looks good but steel sprockets are toast
RK chains have been good to me. I get 3 seasons out of them. It's usually the sprocket that goes that makes me think to change the chain.
I haven't really had a RK even stretch that much.

DID / RK and Tsubaki are all good as long as you get the heavy duty O-Ring chain. I have had good luck with all these. The longest lasting I have encountered is the Sidewinder Racing chain. No stretch, no problems. Pricey, but worth it in my opinion. We were going through a chain/sprocket about every 3 months. JR rides almost daily at least 1-2 hours. As for sprockets, We tried the renthal twinring and the ironman. Both work great. Again found myself at Sidewinder for a sprocket that has a lifetime warranty against wear. Full season and still looks like the first day we put it on. We still go through the Renthal front sprockets though.
The only issue I have found with the Sidewinder chain is the added weight. You can feel it on the bike in the air.

EDIT - Are you guys measuring the distance pin to pin per the bikes manufacturer recommendation?

That is good to know. I never run o-ring chains out in the dunes becasue I was under the impression that the sand quickly destroyes the o-rings.

coming from a quad guy, i have steel sprockets front and rear. the stock chain with dunes and racing/desert lasted me 3 years. just replaced it just because. could it be that the bikes alumium sprockets wear out quick thus wearing the chain faster? also I lube mine almost every ride. i cant afford to be replacing parts all the time.

That's because training wheels don't pull as much torque as a 2 wheeler. Go back to your own forum and let the "men" talk here.
