I used to go to Glamis and Ocotillo and liked the fact that I could go online and find GPS coordinates for various things at each place.
I could then map into my GPS and we'd take a ride out to see sand hill, pumpkin patch, etc etc.

But now i only ride in Havasu and the trails are great for a rhino or any UTV for that matter. There are a lot of people that go out to the havasu area to ride but there is nothing online that show any GPS coordinates or trails for the area. I found trail maps from the BLM but they are limited. For instance, last week some neighbors showed us a trail to an old mine that we could go in. There is an abandoned cabin out there where people meet up and even camp at. There is the desert bar near parker, a lot of great sand washes to ride in and more.

I'm thinking about putting somethng together, a havasu forum, trail guide, google earth map with GPS, whatever. Something where the havasu people can map this stuff out and share what they've found or been to.

Anyone here know the area at all and possibly have some coordinates?

Been looking for the same thing myself.

This will be a great idea if some peeps in the area would start posting gps coordinates, as some friends of mine just bought a house out there.

On saturday we rode from havasu to oatman...138 miles. loooong day but was fun.

Well I can post a few things here to hopefully get it started.

Here is the map or GPS to the mines we went to. The trail gets a little sketchy (for about 30 feet) about 1/4 mile before you get to the mine. It was sort of like rock crawling in just one area but the rhinos made it up just fine. Felt bad for the guy on the dirtbike but he got through it. 99% of the trail is a breeze.
You can go in the mine about 30 feet and then it opens up but its lit in there from a hole at the top.

This is called the horseshoe.
Its about a 5 minute ride from my house out there and people always seem to stop there.

This is a staging area for a lot of people who bring trailers. There is some great riding here and if you look to the right of the trail you will see all the wash area that is sandy and really opens up. (about 40 yards wide in some areas) and I'm told you can use this to go up to some cabin where a lot of people hang out. Its about 16 miles away from this staging area.

Anyone know the GPS coordinates for that cabin?

I'll post a few more later. I know where the desert bar in parker is but haven't been there yet. Its a long drive to get to from havasu unless you take the 95.

funco4life, any chance of posting where you started and ended? You are probably on the other side of town as a starting point.

Is there overnight camping at this location?

Is that mine on the north end of town or south?

For the desert bar we drive down to the mini-mart in parker and then go from there. Lots of people tow their rhinos down and park there as well. Its a good trek from there.

Gonna be Jeeping out there on MLK.

as far as I know, yes. I always see toy haulers setup out there when driving the 95. It never seems crowded either like other places. Along the 95 to havasu there are various places to camp. Not just that staging area. Check with the az BLMoffice to be sure.

Year ago I picked up a offroad trails map from a local realtor. I'm pretty sure they're still available. Next time I'm up there I'll look for it and let you know who published it.

I am interested in this as well. I would like to know if you can get to Alamo Lake via dirt trails. I heard it can be done.
InvisibleMask
Thanks Kevin, I may subscribe to the trails site and buy that first book just to get the data and GPS coordinates.
I plan on putting something together, not sure in which format, just for my own use but I will share it here. I'm not just interested in trails but more interested in the things to travel to and checkout. A trail isn't as fun if you don't have a destination in mind. I will keep posting things as I find them.

you can try googling different search terms and see what pops up

Looking at google earth it seems this can be done but probably best if you started from parker. Thats a long trip from Havasu.
Looks like about 24 miles if you could go in a straight line from parker. Following trails, maybe 50-60 miles one way. Thats doable but makes for a long day.

Desert Bar been there a dozen times or so always fun. About five miles east of Blue Water casion on 95 turn right on cienna springs turns to dirt about ten miles in. road is graded any car can get there , all kinds of trails on both sides of dirt road You can park anywhere and unload to ride in . there are mine shafts on the way, neat place to go for a day.
