So I head out of Vegas last night to pick up a trailer in Murrieta. Get in about 10 call the guy and he sez cool still stop by. So I get there and the thing is sweet and at a good price. Go to make the deal then I see there are no plates on the trailer and said the title is in the mail. But he can give me a bill of sale (It's 2009 maybe 6 monthes old) He sez I can move the trailer without plates!!!! Being who I am I'm thinking I get about 2 miles before the cops light me up. He sez the manufacture who is up in Corona could help clear it up. Also that trailers in cali that don't have certain things don't require titles. I'm lil lost here the last box trailer, I bought out of Norco had a title and was an enclosed also but had a title. Anybody shed some light here.

Or just plain Helppppp!!!!

If you have some paperwork you can get a one day move permit from a California DMV office. I think it is a no charge permit.

just do it

You can get the permit.......but I bought my toyhauler in October of 03 and have NEVER put the plates on. I have them inside by the kitchen sink and I have never been pulled over yet. And I use it a lot.

That sucks that you got pulled over, it has been 2 years and I have not registered my ww, I guess that living in Vegas makes you think that it not a huge deal. I have metro even been behind me on the 215 and down Durango and never stopped me. Good luck on getting it moved.

when i bought my rampage out of henderson, the previous owner kept the plates. i towed the trailer from there to hemet with no problems. also towed it to SD as well as glamis without issue. just kept the bill of sale with me in case. the finance company took care of the registration so the plates showed up about a month later

I just took my GearBox out for the first time this year. My registration expired Dec 09, and I can't find the "10" plate sticker or the new registration. No problems, so far. I'm usually the one that WILL get stopped for any damn thing too. AZ might be a bit different, but you can get a 30 day permit here for about $9-10? I don't remember.

Just an FYI, a friend got stopped leaving Glamis the Sunday of New Years weekend on Wash Road because his trailer registration was expired. The "boys in green" tried to use that to not only give him a ticket, but search his trailer. When he tried to refuse the search, he was told because his trailer was in violation he didn't have the right to refuse the search!
As it turned out he had paid the registration but the stickers hadn't arrived before he left for the Christmas/New Years holiday, and when the "boys in green" checked on that they found that was correct and ended up letting him go.
Not sure what they'd do if you didn't have a plate at all, probably impound it. So BEWARE!
Good Luck!

One-Day permits are available at the AAA free of charge for AAA members.

DMV charges for them.

You might be able to move it, but 2 things you posted would worry me and send up a flag. First of all, ALL trailers in Ca need a title and tags. Second, the titles in the mail? Oh well, so is the check... oldest line there is. No paperwork = no money IMO
