the website is just a front, the only reason i have it is so i can host my own videos, some day i will add links to the front page so you can get to the videos, but that will be a while, i am very computer stupid and there is sooo much to learn, i have no idea why but i used the exact same settings that v8rail used for his last video and he had a 12 minute clip with 43mb, mine is only 6 minutes but the same file size. it will take some time but i got the important stuff figured out, i can post videos. jim if kevin is larry's son then i think that was who was leading, lot of fun, the videos should help get us thru the summer, 6 minutes at a time. now i just need to set up the bigscreen inside my trailer so i can sit in the car with a icdb and act like im am runnin thru the dunes.

There is a 17 min video on planet sand that shows Thanksgiving 2003 the video has drag bikes, rails, and jeeps in it. The quality is not that great, but is still a good video. I will see if I can find it again and post a link.

How do you get the videos smaller, I just bought some software Monday, made 2 videos, but one is around 77 Megs, and the other is a little over 200, one is 5 min long the other is 6, simple music set to helmet cam and regular video stuff, help me show my editing skills to the planet, Thanks

Oh man, making videos smaller is an artform that totally depends on the software you are using to make it with...

In options look for some of these settings:
Video bit rate: The lower you set this number the choppier the video will be, but the file size will go down.
Resolution: Typically set at something like 320x240, decreasing this will create a smaller file but it will look smaller on the screen.

In the audio settings: Again, you can lower the bitrate with associated lower quality in sound.

Everything has a trade off. Smaller files almost always equals worse quality.

If you think those files are big you should see the size of a 15 minute movie at full DVD quality settings: 720x480 3000bits/sec 48mhz 192bits/sec audio.
I've made video files which were over a gig!

thanks, the web host is powweb.com, 8.00 per month and you get 5 gigs of bandwith a day, the first day i posted this video we hit 4 gigs, not sure what they do if i go over, probally more $$, i have more inthe works, i have about 1.5 hrs of footage but not all is fast run stuff.

Not sure how hard it would be but is it possible to have music, then fade away to engine noise then go back to music? That might be not possible to do but it sure would be cool. Amazing to see all that chopped up sand and some whoop-dee-doo's with the camera motion so smooth that it looked like it could have been on a steadicam mount. Gives some appreciation for how these nicely suspended rails ride. What type of car was this filmed on?
