Has anyone else been ticketed going to boardmanville? During halloween we took a trip to boardmanville and a blm was stopped on Ted Kipf rd and motioned for us to pull over. He told us it was illegal to travel on that rd. This is the first I have heard of this. The funny thing is he pulled us over where there is a sign that said it was legal to drive off road vehicles.
I got out of my sand car to talk to him and he told me to stay there(which I did) then went to question my son who is 17 on the quad behind us. My wife who is a fire captain explained to him that we were unaware of this law and he told her it had been a law for years. Anyway's got a darn ticket and will probably never go to boardmanville again. Will that place survive without the duners?

I got a ticket too, same weekend. And thus far, nothing sent in mail. I wasn't driving on Ted Kipt. Rd., but on the trail right above it. The LEO was parked on the road and motioned me to come down onto the road, but I didn't. So, since I wasn't on the road, I thought I was legal....apparently NOT. My ticket was cited, dollar amount is $125.00 and I was told I could not continue my ride to Boardmanville. Grrrr.....a ticket, seriously?

It isn't Jeanie's fault (Boardmanville), she is fighting this with every penny she has, hired lawyers and so on. I hope that we can still support her and drive vehicles there until she can get this worked out. On another board, I offered a fundraiser to help Boardmanville with costs to keep this place open for us duners....no replies.

I have gone to boardmanville for years. Usually with new people that have never been before. I guess I will just have to make a change and start drinking cheap/cold beers from my cooler at camp!
Cookie
We got ticketed last year about this. It sucks because Boardmanville is not longer a ride destination for us because of this. If you can get under wash 10, then it is still is legal, but that is the only way with an ORV.

I called the blm office # on the ticket since i never recieved anything in the mail and they said that it had not come in or been posted. So who knows I am going to call again before I pay the $125. Maybe the officer never sent hem in. I was nice to the guy but he sure was a jerk, didn't do much for the image of the blm. Mt wife is a fire captain and went to the office on gecko rd to report him but they didn't care. Oh well...

I got a ticket last year for not having my pass "visable" and I had forgot all about it till the first trip this year.
I called to inquire if I had a bench warrant for no-show, no pay and they told me the ticket had been dismissed by the judge..
They even sent me a letter way back... icon_confused.gif

it does suck big time,

since i was 8 we have gone to glamis during thanksgiving, and every year the wednsday before t-day we go to boardmanville. well that dream is long over. last year we went, and was told the only way was the rd. so we took it, we were stoped by a BLM and cited, 4 rails, 8 quads, and he gave a ticket to EVERYONE... 12x125... yah it was a expesive ride to boardmanville... we will never go back and there are alot od dollar bills out there with my name, we did it every year.

wow what an AZZZ 12 X 125

12 x 125 goes beyond making a point and more towards making a profit; thats ridiculous.

Does anyone know why they are actually enforcing this dumb (_|_) law? Was it due to an accident? Maybe the Rhino vs train? Or does CA just hate their residents/businesses that much?

This sucks because I have never been to Boardmanville. I was hoping to go the last trip but I guess this will never happen.

I thought Ted Kipf Road was under the Highway Patrols jurisdiction?
I wonder, what is the motivation behind the BLMs decision to enforce laws outside their jurisdiction?
Mrs. Bear Down
I am donating every time I'm there to the fund to keep wash 10 open... there is also a donation container at KD Cycle at Vendors..

I refuse to let some dumb BLM tell me what I can and can not do!!! Unhitch the truck and were there every time!!! All of you who tow... should make every effort to go in your vehicles!! No flag needed... just go!!

The food shack is suffering big time!! I can't imagine Boardmanville without Noni's Chili Cheese Fries!! facelick.gif

Go to boardmanville in your truck, she also has a container for donations... I think I'm about 100.00 in so far... I'm not rich by any means, but I can't let a legacy I grew up with since I was a kid go away that easily!!!

GD.COM band together and fight this!!! 909.gif

It wasn't BLM if I remember, it was Imperial Country Sheriffs, what we should ask for is a Off road trail to BV from the BLM.

x2 getting ready to head out there the weekend of the 17th and plan on taking the wife and kid out there in the truck... its total b.s we can ride out there no more. was so much fun to go out htere for a quick beer and off for another ride...
rmb monster
I paid the ticket last week, didn't want to get pulled over for another b.s reason and find out I have a warrant for not paying the ticket. I have never recieved anything but would rather pay it than end up in the pokey on a glamis trip that would suck for everyone on the trip.

Ok. Folks…and just passing through…..

Also, think this has been gone over before…BUT….

Ted Kipf road is and ALWAYS HAS BEEEN an unpaved COUNTY road. Which means it’s just like any other road and OHV’s are not allowed. Never have been. Period. Last year and this year, ICSO (and probably Highway Patrol) have simply started enforcing the law there that applies to ALL roads. We need to quite whining about it. I love off roading, but if some yahoo started Ricky Racing his quad on the street up and down in front of my house, I’d be the first to call the cops and have the bastard sited. (and I have tongue.gif )

If they’d passed a new law making our trek to BMV difficult or impossible, I’d be right there with ya’ll complaining.

I know I’m a broken record, but there is nothing stopping us from getting in our street legal vehicles and driving to BMV. Please understand, I support BMV and Jeannie 100%. I really liked running the Poker Run from BMV. If she’s collecting $$$ to help her in the fight, I know we’ll put in our fair share.

Probably because the Government gave the RR the "Power of God" to do any damn thing they want dunno.gif

Just drive over the tracks anywhere you can, but watch for trains!!!!!!!!!!
I do it in my rail everytime I have gone, did not fit under wash 10. also
these tickets can be fought in the mail with explainations, every citation
I have recieved has been overturned in the dunes. The judges in Imperial co.
still want our mony spent when we drive though. And the local business owners
are talking to the judges. Although I have not done it for about a year.
may need to go see jennie this weekend.

First of all, if you cross the tracks anywhere but at a designated crossing you can be fined by the RR Police and unless you find a federal judge to talk to you can not get it overturned... the RR is Fed. Also with the Wash Rd closure, you can not get to the tracks from Wash Rd. We won't even get into the safety issue... God forbid someone gets stuck on the tracks.
blackmagic250R
THe rail road flipped out after the last rhino accident with all the little kids, and now the blm is trying to make sure people stay far away from the tracks. Talking with a few buddies last night, cant we cross the tracks at the 78 and just take the washes there?

I WONT SAY WHAT I DO BUT... NEW CASE LAW HAS JUST RECENTLY PASSED IN CALIFORNIA STATING TO THE EFFECT OF-

IF YOU OR YOUR KIDS UNDER 18 YRS OLD ARE SUBJECT TO TALKING TO THE POLICE DURING AN INVESTIGATION OR GATHERING A STATEMENT, AS WIERD AS IT SOUNDS, KIDS ARE YOUR PROPERY AND CONSIDERED PROPERTY UNDER CA LAW. THE POLICE NEED TO GET YOUR PERMISSION /CONSENT IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A STATEMENT..... YOU CAN TELL THEM NO! THESE ARE CASES WHERE THE LEO IS BEING "ABOVE AND BEYOND".

IF THE LEO WANTS TO ACT A FOOL OR BE A BUTTHEAD YOU DONT HAVE TO COOPERATE EXACTLY. JUST BE READY FOR A "WALK AROUND" AND POSSIBLE MORE MICROSCOPED INSPECTION OF YOUR PAPERWORK AND OR VEHICLE. I LOVE THE POLICE CAUSE WE NEED THEM BUT THERES NO NEED TO LET YOUR BADGE BE BIGGER THAN YOUR CONSCIENCE.

I THINK SOME OF THIS CITING IS GETTING OUT OF HAND. I HAVE MET BLM GUY THAT WAS COORDIAL...THE REST QUITE THE OPPOSITE.
