Im looking to purchase a set of cool heads for my 02 Banshee. bike has stock bore, stock port timing DMC pipes Vforce reeds and jetted accordinly.Need rcomendations on brands and dome sizes and I would like to still use 92 pump gas.

im actually in the same exact boat here. i have a 100% stock motor eternally with FMF pipes, k&n air filter w/ moified air lid, and boost bottle. and is jetted a hair bit rich but not too rich. i want to run on pumped gas as well.

sorry i dont want to seem like i am jacking your thread. i was gonna make up this topic as well.

I have come to the conculsion that the cool heads are somewhat overrated. Yes they look cool and can raise your compression, but do very little else.
Do they offer more cooling capacity? not really. All it does is allow more coolant to flow throught the head. The radiator is the item that can cool your bike better. Besides if you want to run 92 still, your increase in compression is not going to be that large over stock, thus not requiring it to run ALOT cooler.

Here is what I reccommend.
Take your stock head down and get it milled for about 50$. you can raise your compression to its peak with 92 octane. MUCH CHEAPER!!!!! icon_biggrin.gif

Then if you are seriously concerned about overheating, purchase one of the aftermarket radiators like the toomey. This will cool your bike enough for a majorly built enigine. Another cooling item is the pro design water pump insert, my friend has this, not sure if it does anything. He also has the toomey radiator, AWSOME product.

Just my two cents. But if you must have a cool head type, check out www.wickedatv.com

they offer a head that has studs to better stabilized your engine.
SHOCKER
My friend has pro design cool heads and he likes em alot

I've heard the cool heads and the boost bottle are very overrated.
SHOCKER
Yeah why get the boost bottle, you have to get a special intake manifold to use the bottle n-e-ways so i thin its a waste of money, but the heads arent

I have a cool head on my built banshee that I got free from a friend, It looks cool not sure if it runs any better. I used to run just a milled head and it worked great. So what I am saying is iff I had your money I would buy the cool head, but with my money I would stick with the milled stock head.

Cool head is well worth it..Not only does it produce about 30% better flow and cooling you can change the power curve with the domes.. The boost bottle was actually a california fad, it does nothing.. get the NOSS MACHINE head.... seems like everyone makes one now, trinity, alba, pro design, vito's etc.. heres the Noss Site...Noss Machine

I just dont buy the 30% more cooling. I think its BULLSH!AT. I mean, yes it allows 30% more coolant around the head. But hell, once the hot coolant leaves the head it goes to the radiator to disapate the heat. Does your stock radiator offer 30% more cooling to keep up with the coolhead???!! angryfire.gif NO! your radiator disapates the smae amount of coolant at the same speed. So in affect all you do is have more hot coolant around your head. Could this actually be worse???? Maybe!
My friend and I have the exact same mods done to our banshees. We both have a cool head type head that came with our package. MINE OVERHEATS and his does not. Why? he has the toomey radiator. Plain and simple, the cool head in my FACTUAL experience does not perform and is overated! angryfire.gif
Yamiboy
how much for the toomey radiator set-up? i might go with that before i do any mods. does it still fit under the stock plastics with little cutting or plastic modification.

thanks for the info.

p.s. i know most are gonna get hot about this but the boost bottle helps alittle but its not any horsepower but the flat spot banshees are notorius for well it helps but only very little. is it worth the money? no its not, but hey i did get one bought for me on my b-day so im not complaining.

the toomey radiator is like $400. A bit pricey.
