Was out for a weeks trip starting 1/10/10. Had wash 14 to ourselves. Tuesday, came back from working my job in El Centro, and noticed a car parked in the distance from our camp, but paid no attention to it. Awhile later, a young guy and girl (college age), walked to our camp. We were facing away from them, so we didn't pay much attention. They were out hiking around, and they managed to bury their front wheel drive car, and asked for help. Said ok, and took my 2wd duramax and attempted to pull them out, and got myself stuck. Dug out, aired down, and got back on hard pack. Decided to try and push out and managed to get back to some hard pack. Directed to follow a certain path, and the guy burried the tires, cause he turned his wheels before he got going. This time, I went back and got our wolverine 450, and I pulled him to some hard pack. Sad, I pulled them out with a wolverine and not the duramax. Anyway, They had been out there for hours, no water, no pass, nothing. They were not duners, just some kid's hiking around, totally unprepared. Gave them some water, and suggested they get along before they got caught without a pass. We were the only one's out there and they don't realize how lucky they were to see us. If they were green types, I hope they will remember that duners are not so bad.
Second rescue was on 1/17/10 Friday night. Guy ran out of gas on his 660 raptor, and his crew didn't know he dropped back cause he was in the rear. He was in a dip, so I wen't up on top of a hill not far from olds., and flahed my lights hoping they would return, which they did soon. I keep a small siphon hose on my raptor 700, and filled a couple of water bottles with gas to get him back to camp. I followed him back, and he ran out again. This time, I was close enough to tow him back. Was good for a couple of beers, and a new friendship. I like to put some karma deposits in the bank, cause I hope if something happened to me or someone in my family, we could be as fortunite.
