Can Am is not your fathers Bombardier....LOL.
I too have been eyeballing that DS90X....
Race Ready LT Youth Quad. You know you can get an Spanking New 2009 DS90X for about the same price as a 2010 Kaw/Hon/Suz/Yam Stock Quad...Yup...I'm been looking.
And it will have the upgraded suspension, cdi, exhaust, tires....etc etc.
CanAm is running the Races these days.....that alone says their intrest in our sport.

just keep an eye on freight and set up fee's.....its a buyers market.

My bother bought one last year from funcoforlife here on the boards his kid tried to race it but was getting beat by the 2 strokes so he sold it . Since then we have had it out a few times and it seems to work ok they look better than they run LOL . It is safe for the kids because it is so wide which is a plus .
I had to take it in for a few recalls the air box in no good the rubber cracked so that got replaced since then it has run fine .
They are not the fastest thing out there but they look cool lets just say this I think that my bother would make you a good deal on his if you want to buy it then he would go buy a honda

My son had one as his first Quad, we ended up getting rid of it. Something in the stator or coil caused it to loose spark and stall 20 min out on a ride from camp. Was a long tow back, ruined the weekend, couldn't get parts for it, etc. Dealer took 3 months to get the parts to repair it. Once fixed and back home it started to smoke out the crank case breather, well it was smoking on it's first ride but the dealer couldn't find what was wrong with it.
On our 2nd or 3rd trip out the smoke got so bad I thought it was on fire, running very lean and when the kid would stop it would smoke him out. We were in Saint Anthonys riding and I thought it was due to elevation, tried to richen it up a little but to no avail. So I said F-it run it till it blows up and I will take it back when we get home. Back at dealer they found a crack in the head inside causing the problems. Unable to get parts for over 4 months before we traded it in for a Honda 90.
Long story short it was a large POS, we had a bad experience, ended up buying the honda that we should have the first time.
Good luck if you buy one. You will need it, no aftermarket support, can't even find jets for it.

Check out Pitser Pro. Amazing little quads! not your pappa's 70!

I have personally ridden this on an mx track clearing singles and has some awesome power for a little motor. A 125cc sounds big but thats the only way an air cooled 4 stroke can make the same power as the 2 stoke 90's. its an amazing little machine all top notch.

there is a full review on this machine if your seriously looking to get your kid a quad he can learn on and really enjoy. (also a great a pitbike if you know what i mean)
http://www.atvrideronline.com/quads/1001_a...acer/index.htmlIt's under 4K has suspension your 450's dont even come with. only bad thing i didnt like about it was the front brake feel. They have since upgraded the master cylinder.

I have a buddy who bought his son a 04 Ds90. Has'nt have many serious problems with it, except if he doesnt ride it for a month or so it wont start/run. he has to pull the carb and clean it, then its fine.
I wanted to upgrade my son from his 87 trx70 to a 90 because he needed suspension. I decided to go with a Trx90. Found a very clean low hour 2000 for a nice price. Glad I went with Honda.

For sand, I'd think it's a poor choice. As mentioned, they are not power monsters by far.
How about a nice DRR or APEX? The 2 strokes is my choice for stock and modified.
The pitster pro mentioned sure seems like a good machine. Good feedback for as new as it is.
A 4 stroke will need more cc's (125), in the sand especially.
The TRX90 is the ultimate in bulletproof...untill you pay 8k to turn the motor into a fast grenade. <G>
