Vote seriously, GD.COM decides this one! I think I wanna build one of King Sand Cars New "Kit Cars". They look Bad Azz!
Doing a rally car style slalom course through the pucker bush has to be worth the admission price alone.
And the Dune rides have to be a flippin hoot!!
Recently King Sand Cars has released a "Kit Car".
You buy a chassis kit that comes welded, tabbed, powder coated, wired etc etc.
All you have to do is start bolting parts on this car. All parts come as "kits" or "assemblies" that includes everything including the hardware.
The axle and CV kits come assembled and even inside greased. Grease the outside,(with supplied grease) bolt on car. Done.
Radiator kit come pre assembled, plumbed and with all clamps and nut, bolts etc.
Steering comes as a whole system. Just bolt it all on. A smart Monkey with a crescent wrench could assemble this whole car.
KSC has never done chassis kits because they wanted ALL KSC's to look Bad Azz. They now offer a car that you cant wire wrong, plumb wrong, assemble wrong etc etc.
Below is some pics, links and descriptions from KSC Ebay site. Where you can also buy said "kits" and "kit part systems".
I cant get the pics to download so you'll have to click the Ebay link and there is the pics.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/King-Sand-C...sQ5fAccessoriesKing Sand Car Kit!
Assemble Your Own Car and Save!
KSC has never offered thier car in kit form. We are now offering a kit car that is powdercoated and wired to make assembly easy. The car comes powdercoated in the color of your choice and completely wired including Line-X floorpan installed, taillights wired, switches, gauges, sending units, battery, fan relay, Hayabusa modified engine wiring harness installed, whip mount wired and installed. This car is ready to bolt parts on! The kit includes FRONT AND REAR ARMS AND SPINDLES powdercoated. The body is mounted and includes a roof, a dash and a hood just as you see it in the pictures. We supply all the additional parts to finish the car in "kits" or groups of parts that are commonly installed as a system, like the steering system for example. The steering system would include all the parts, nuts, bolts, etc. to complete that entire system. The cost of building the car can be spread over several months or be a summer project. The car is completely tabbed and ready for all addition parts to be installed. You get the car EXACTLY the way we have assembled all 72 cars with all the latest and greatest KSC features. It all fits and it's all there. This is how you get a genuine KSC past the kitchen! The initial investment is cheaper than a Rhino or RZR. When you finish you have the pride of building the car and a true performance top of the line sand car.
ONLY A HAYABUSA FITS OUR CHASSIS
THIS IS NOT A UNIVERSAL CHASSIS
IT ONLY COMES POWDERCOATED & WIRED
NO BARE CHASSIS SOLD
NO NON-WIRED CHASSIS SOLD
THIS IS HOW WE DO IT
WE HAVE THE PARTS AND THEY FIT

I like these little cars. But just slightly bigger...
Think about the benefits: build one with a subaru, megasquirt computer, 091. Replacement stock JDM motor $500. Spare trans $2500-less if just rebuilding and not keepinf a spare ready. Once built, you could keep a spare trans and motor in the garage ( or the trailer for longer trips), drive the effin crap out of it. If it breaks, so what- simple fixes, cheap VW parts. Small enough to fit his and hers in a standard trailer- no stacker required.
All for the price of a long travel.
Now if I could just get Don to build one...

I would love to have a second car for just me going or 1 other person. I would ride in a King, Tom Pro, and the Taz car before deciding. The Taz is the ecotec though not the busa and it has the cvt with no shifting. I would even consider making it a single seater. I dont think you can go wrong with a second car if you can afford it. Do it!!

The "kit" car is a very economical way to get a KSC and you can build it over time to spread out the build cost.
The chassis kit is a excellent bargain.
Fully welded and tabbed chassis.
Full aluminum work, side panels, roof, dash, hood, wing trunk, firewall
fully wired with gauges, battery, relays, modified Busa wire harness all already installed
powder coated everything
full floors w Rhino lining
cooler and mount
front and rear arms with spindles w/ heim joints and tie rod links all powder coated
Plus more for $9950.00
Where can you beat that??

Just curious - have you ridden in or driven a King? I've never heard a bad thing about them (I think they are BA, and I'm still waiting for a ride in one), but you may want to check out how they feel before building one. Also, consider that you aren't going to be able to register it in CA.

The X-18 will not fit in my trailer with my big car like a KSC will. They are slow. They are chinese. They are not 20K. I WANT to build it. It wont do anything like my big car. It wont do anything like a KSC. They are Chinese. I would have to take to vehicles to the Dez instead of one.

I feel like I'm following you OB, I want a Funco down the rode but I don't have the money to drop on that at my age. A KSC would be perfect. I look on ebay at their store and if you add hubs, exhaust, radiator, gear box and chain, and someother stuff including the chassis it was about $15,000. From there all it needs is seats, motor, suspension and tires. So hopefully under $20k but I'm doubtful. If you happen to get a actually price PM me and let me know or something. I want to build something just as you do but i want to be able to keep up with the big rails that I dune with. Mine probably won't get started til summer so as long as these kits stay available I would also highly consider this. I wish i had your pain though. Buggy after buggy. That would be sweet.

My buddy's dad has a KSC. We took it out for a day run and I got alot of seat time that day. I'm a pretty big boy, 6'3" 225lbs and I felt very comfortable in it. Alot more comfortable than I expected to be. The car handles on rails in the dunes, but around camp with that live axle it's turns like a tank. You also have to do a little planning when parking without a reverse box. Only thing that I didn't like about the car as compared to a big car is that with the light front end, it had a tendency to grab tracks and wander a bit out on sand highway. But in the dunes... you can't beat it. So small and flickable, and just awesome to drive. Ultimately, I'd like to get rid of my big car and get 2 mini's, KSC style. One for me and one for my lady.
