I recently bought a 2006 WW 3305 from an auction and it was originally built Dec. 05. It probably has never had anything done
to the roof. With a visual inspection it looks great but I know that maintenance is imperative.

What should be done to it and when? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Robbie
if there are no cracks in the sealant or front/rear caps, just wash it off.

I use a rubber roof treatment on both of my RV's. It keeps the roof looking clean and bright. I buy the stuff at Camping World but I forget who makes it.

If I remember correctly, WW required seal recaulking and inspection every 6 months.

From the posts Ive seen here and the RV.net evil site, most issues are at the joint of the front and or back cap... I have inspected mine every few months and so far so good < insert knock on wood smiley here>,bit I think this summer I'm scraping it off and having a look just to be sure. Im going to use the Eternabond tape to reseal it...

If I find real damage for some reason, it will go to Shawn for repair!

Good luck!

my w w i check every 6 months just because its cheaper to do a little sealing on the roof than repairing major water damage in the walls just my 2.

Hey Shawn, what do you guys charge for to reseal/rechaulk the roof? I had it done (sort of) down here in SD recently, but got hosed on price and workmanship.

I just talked with service and for let say a 30' er $550.00 parts and labor included. Up to 40' $650.00 . Includes strip , clean and seal.

My roof looks like a solid layer/cover. I would imagine that the areas of concern would be the edges all the way around especially the front and rear.

I think a good cleaning and then a good seal added to the edges would be suffice or is there more to it?

Does the entire surface need stripped and sealed or just cleaned and sealed?

Check all the area that penetrate the roof, ie the vents, ladder mount, antenna, ect. Check to see if the lap sealant is dry, cracked and brittle. If so replace.

Edit for: Check the rear cap and front cap seams too.

Then I am not sure why it is necessary to pay $550-$650 (unless your roof is in need of some major repair)???

It's not necessary...if you have time and patience. I have had it done 2 times. First time I had a mobile guy come and strip the old lap sealent and reseal for $350. Took the guy about 7 hours, 1 can of paint thinner, 14 tubes of Dicor lap sealent and a bottle of rubber roof cleaner/protector to complete the job. Just in material there was over $100. Second time, I thought I would give it a go and after 2 hours of getting no where, I took to a shop to have them finish it.
