hey guys! I want to start by saying thanks for answering my questions in advance, I appreciate you taking the time to do so.
here is my question. I am in the middle of building a mid travel a-arm short wheel base care (its a 105 inchs).
here is my problem with the whole car mocked up witha 091 and my racing vw engine the car weighs in at 1000 pounds. and I would like to keep it there.
the next problem is the fact that my 2498 Turbo Vw is making 450hp at the crank and 398 ftlbs at 7,000rpms. I know every fiber in my body is telling me a 091 isnt going to handle this. But is there ANYTHINg you can do to keep a 091 alive with this much power? I know if I try and go to a 2d its only going to increase the weight in everything. I am going to need to brace the chassis and go through it all.
thanks and if I could get a quote I would appreciate it!
By the way I do already have a 091 core.

I'm running a N/A 3.5 with an 091 that can't be built more. My care weighs less than 1600lbs.
First motor was a N/A 2498 and the trans went 6 years.
With the Honda, the trans has been rebuilt 2x. Both times as mentioned above the pinion bearing let go and tore up a few other things. I am now $6000 into it for 11 years of use, including original build.
With the VW I always was high into the RPMs and had the wheels spinning like raped apes before I got into anything big. It had low end but not like my honda.
With the Honda I can putt to the bottom of a hill in third with 3 passengers and roll through the whoops and then nail it and it just comes alive. I think my 091 doesn't really appreciate the whole coming alive part.

Trans life and load will also be affected by the tire size

If you build the correct bus box you should be ok, What I am saying is a lot of Trans builders claim they are building a Mega strong box, I would have them list out what you are getting, a friend of mine that paid $3400 had a box built and it was supposed to been a bad Azz box but when he had the member cogbox open it up it was missing some crucial parts, there was a cast diff and no chromoly pinion nut, the shift slider was not gusseted and the case was not machined for a mendi 2d bearing.
I would call John at RC Trans (cogbox) if you want the strongest 091

Or Weddle directly since its all their parts that will be going in it.

450hp at the crank and 398 ftlbs VW!
Good luck keeping that engine together. I dont think ive ever seen a VW eng bolted up to a $7000 transaxle.

I have over 500hp running 32 lbs of boost motor was built in 1996 and am still running the same pistons and cylinders. I have gone through a turbo and worn out the valve guides and valves and have freshened it up a few times but that is it
I drop the clutch at 7200 and we run it up to 8200 rpm I can't say I am easy on it
I have a trans I spent over 10k coupled to it

Hey Aaron I would consider running a bus box upside down with a pyramid case. If your starting from scratch I think you'll love the IRS set up too.
