What a SHOCKER! NOT! The owner was an A-hole we watched him yell at a man in front of his to kids just because the guy had brought in a water bottle. The owner kicked him out while the poor guy apologized and repeatedly told the owner to stop yellng at him in front of his kids. As the guy was walking out of the place the owner shooved the guy from behind. The guy called the police and waited outside of the restaurant. I was at the bar and watched this happen personally. I asked the female bar tender who the hell was he and she told us it was the owner. She then had the nerve to ask us if we saw the owner get pushed by the guy. She was watching the whole thing next to us when it went down. I guess she wanted me and my friend to go along with her story to protect her boss when the cops showed up. Vowed never to return to that place. To bad cause the lady sure did pour some good stiff drinks.

Wow. Thanks for that.

IMO, the place isn't really worth the ride from Glamis. The ride is sort of fun, but vendors has much better food and it's typically quite a bit cheaper than DD.

I thought Ron Pratt owned Duner's Diner, I really could't see him shoving a guy out the door. It was probably the manager, but still shouldn't have happened.
g-mo
i was in the bar area with some friends in 2008, and some a-hole was yelling at some girl that had a little dog on her lap telling her to leave and followed her and her friends out the door as he continued to yell.
the food really isnt that good in that place either, actually it sucks.
that idiot hasent been lucky enough to yell at the right person.

Ron does own it. I am sure these folks are referring to the old owners who now run it for Ron. They can be a little ruff for sure. The are not going to win any personality contests anytime soon!

Seen this before 2 times in the last 2 years yes he comes to the table yelling and grabs them and tells them to leave its a good laugh though one of these days someone is going to just knock him out.

Went for drinks a few weeks ago. The waitress politely asked one of us with a water bottle to get rid of it, said it was against the law to bring it in. Don't know if it is a law or rule but regardless the booze was good.

The food sucks but its a break to have a soda before we drive back. Id tell that old fart to go f himself if he cries about a bottle of water. Youd be spending 20 bucks on a couple of burgers as it is. Psyco for sure.

Havent been there in several years but after hearing this they wont be getting my business. Life is too short to get treated like this, especially in front of kids. New years several from the group went over from Buttercup but I said no thanks, my egg sandwiches with hash browns are better and cheaper. 25bangin.gif

I've been there a dozen times in 5 years, never had a problem and always treated quite well by the staff. I was there when some douchy guy freaked out because they put lettuce on his burger when he asked for no lettuce, he yelled "I said no lettuce!", and was then surrounded by BIG staff guys that were just about to go to work on this guy when the older lady that runs the register shouted "DON'T". The guys backed off and the douche left with his burger minus the lettuce. I thought the whole thing was handled fine. If the sign says "no water bottles", then abide by it, and you'll have no problem. Sounds like a bunch of people can't read or can't respect a business's rules and wanna complain that they were dealt with.

Ya but screaming and yelling over a water bottle seems a little excessive dunno.gif

Our group camps @ Gordons and have gone to Pair a Dice quite a few times in the last couple of years. I have never had a problem, the people that work there are always friendly to us... we usually take the kids there for ice cream in the early and late part of the season when it is hot. Also gives the adults a chance to have a couple of beers and watch some sports out on the patio.

The people that work there are VERY rude. The ride is fun and their attitude is kinda fun in a "I wonder what the old lady is going to say to us today."

And if you yell at a grown man in front of his young son you should expect to get punched. I have been in business arguments with with people and if their kids happen to walk in for whatever reason I just smile and deal with it later. I respect nobody more than I do my Dad - and nobody should make a man look like a bitch in front of his kids.

i agree 100% with you, we used to go there at least once a trip when we camped at buttercup but recently we hadnt been going because of the way they treat people and act. i had seen times that someone carried a water bottle in and got screamed at and chased like they had a freakin bomb...its a water bottle tell the people nicely they cant bring it in!

Come on Chuck, I understand that there maybe a sign somewhere were it says not to bring in drinks. But the customer out in the desert is going to forget from time to time that he's walking around with a bottle of water in the heat. So why not politely point to the sign and say "no water bottles sir". Instead you are a business in the desert that is relying on the few customers that camp around your location and you treat them like that. And you stated "wanna complain that they were dealt with" does that mean belittling them in front of their kids and pushing them from behind because they are not walking out fast enough? And then asking customers to back up their boss and change the story for when the cops come...no thanks.

Other side of the freeway (going north), next to the cell tower.

Although I respect their rules about the water bottle thing, if it were my joint, I'd allow people to bring in whatever they want. Even BYOB would be fine with me. Sell some killer bar food and make it a party! The more people you get in there the funner it'll be and everyone would be happy. JMO

I don’t know of any bar or restaurant that will let you bring in an outside beverage. It’s not fine dinning but the grub is good and I’ve always been treated respectfully by the staff maybe it has something to do with how I treat them. dunno.gif

You don't need no GPS

Run sand highway along the east side of the canal from Gecko. It will veer east away from the canal. There is one drop off that if you hit just right and to fast you will lawn dart. Stay on it until you see all the camps at Gordon well, turn right before you drive into the canal by the interstate. Head to the cell tower and go over the bridge that crosses the canal from Gecko. Bounce over the woops until you hit the parking lot. Pull up your pants if needed and leave the water bottle in the car.

Thanks for the laugh this morning. I almost spit my diet coke all over my computer and your correct about the one drop off. My friend hit it at about 115 mph, lawn darted and went end over end three times. Had to get some staples in his head after that one. Be careful there!!!!
