We (pipelayer and I) have a couple of friends that were on their way from Gekko to the Golf Tourney. It was going to be their first GD.com event. They never made it, and the people they helped are fortunate they were found by them.
Our friends, Scott Burger, his daughter Loren, and his girlfriend Trish (along with a few others in their group) were going through the dunes on their way out. They came across a lady, and a girl, who were visibly upset, and a RZR that had gone off a steep drop off, ejecting the driver, and injuring the passenger. The driver was the husband, and I believe the passenger was the son of their friend they were camped with. Scot, Trish and Loren made sure they were able to get the injured people back to their camp, and met up with us after the tourney in the Compound. They told us what had happened, and we thought "Wow, those people were lucky" and never thought we'd hear anything else. Loren and her friends went the the Beach Store to buy some beer. As they got ready to leave, they saw the mom and the daughter sitting under the awning trying to stay out of the rain. It seems that they were all camped in one rig, and the rest of their group had gone to the hospital in Brawley. Loren invited them to come and hang out with all of us in the Compound, and a rescue mission was quickly put together to go get their RZR out of the dunes. We all helped to take the mom and daughter's mind off the situation the best we could. After an hour or two, they received a call that the dad has a cracked kneecap (he's going to go through surgery at home) and the boy has a broken wrist (the big round bone that sticks off to the side). We sent them on their way back to camp, and helped to load their RZR Sunday morning.
I know that Scott, Trish and Loren aren't members, but I still think they did what we should all do as a responsible duner. They helped out complete strangers when they needed someone.

tell them great job but DOTM is for the board peeps sorry
