I have a 2002 Baja by Dunes trailer with the fold down loft bed. I want to take it out and add a duel queen Happijac system. Race Trailer Products used to make a retro system that would be much easier to install, butt I can't find them "out of biz?" Thanks, SG

I was thinking about doing it, but...
I think you need the supporting structure built into the wall during construction. Tearing out the paneling and adding the (steel?) studs might be a bit much for the backyard mechanic type.

From what I've learned, the backing for the lift system, and plug and play wireing will do it. I think the coach will be stronger after I'm done. If you've ever opened-up wood constructed R.V. walls before, there not built very good. Lousy lumber, cheesy staples, cheep construction. Once I get started I'll post pictures. Can't believe I'm the first to do this. Thanks SG

What brand system did you take apart? Why did you take it apart? Thanks, SG

While sending my trailer back to the factory @ Extreme for an electrical issue, I had them install the electric beds and they said it was a biotch and would never do that again. They had to add a lot of support bracing and tie it in for the track system. Hate to pay other poeple for anything but I'm glad I didn't try this project.

I had Warrior Lifetstyles do it on my trailer this summer, it wasn't cheap, lots of labor involved. But made the wife happy...........

Alxcook, What type of construction is your trailer. Wood frame, steel, aluminum. My trailer is wood framed, pretty easy to reinforce and work with.

All wood frame, it is a Warrior, but when I original ordered, I need the extra tall bed, so I couldn't have the double electric beds.
I am not sure what they reinforced in the walls, the walls are just guides, the rails that the bed rides on might support all the weight to the floor?

I think that is close to what I spent, had many other things done also, so don't remember all the exact costs.

I'll be watching too! Currently, I throw a foam pad and sleeping bag on the floor in the back of the trailer. I can't stand sleeping on the top bunk!

I have some progress pics. Had to stop, (Getting ready for Easter in Glamis) Including building the bed frame, with angle iron reinforcement, I have almost 28 Hrs. into it. I reused the original panelling, so the interior demo was slow. I still have to find the trim tape to match the wallpaper, and decide what mattress to use.

Just installed the bed platform, fits and works perfect! Does anyone know where to get a queen mattress that will work well for my lift system? Thanks, SG

Finally got the Hapijac installed in my Extreme 30ft front bath. Not as clean as bgchlln, but mostly because the Extreme people put most of the bracing on before they put on the outside walls. Lots of wood in the rear for bracing, but I made "feet" to mount to the bottom of the bed assembly, so the load is carried by the floor. Works great and no more crawling up a ladder to get into bed. Plan on making a lightweight rack to put in place of the upper bunk so we can store gear bags etc up there once we lower the beds. Right now it puts the bed about 3" higher than it was before in the up position. Might put some new paneling in some day, but for now...it will work. Thanks JimandMelissa for the lift assy.
