After wanting a motorhome for a while and not being able to find one with the quality and tow capacity what I wanted I decided to have one custom built. It all started out with a International 8600 with a Cummins engine (425 hp/1500 lbs) and a 4000 series Allison auto trans. Tow capacity is 80,000 lbs. Please enjoy the build.

Actually this all took place over the last 5 weeks.

CNC trailers in Anaheim. Chad's (the owner) dad used to own SanTek trailers. So if you know about santek then you know about their quality.

Here I thought somebody was going to build a motorhome like the 5th wheel that twoduners11 actually built himself. So you’re having it built, the title was a little misleading. Sorry for my confusion. It should turn out quite nice.

I looked everywhere and The used ones were about 30-50K more then I ended up spending. All of my cabinets are 100% Cherry wood. Not one piece of particle board. 3 LCD TV's, Cal King sleep number bed, 1 pc granite counter tops, 8K diesel gen, central vac system, 200 gal fresh water and the list goes on. Its also pretty cool to see everything being built and to know EVERYTHING about the unit.

Who did the Chassis stretch, and how much did that cost if you don't mind me asking?
Did they weld or is it bolt together?
Is the camper body solid mounted, or does it ride on a air ride setup?

Specialty truck (in Santa Ana) did the stretch and it was about $3500. This price included the custom frame, wiring, brake lines and air bag lines and a 4 pc drive shaft. They have been doing these stretches for 30 years and have not had any issues. The camper part is bolted to the frame and the rear suspension is air ride.

Take it to CHP and they reclassify the truck as a MOHO. Its a pretty simple process.

Outside TV/radio compartment. 32in LCD on a full motion mount and its tied into the whole outside stereo system. Also all tv's are linked to a video switching system, so all tvs can watch the same thing or all different. The outside stereo and play music off of the inside IPOD and can also control the inside volume and vice versa.

Some interior shots. All cabinets are 100% Cherry wood with blue M hinges and slides. Stainless appliances and stainless 4 door fridge. Flooring will be on the steps, through the kitchen, under the table and through the bathroom. Carpet is in the front and in the back bedroom.

I'm curious about the truck.
Why not start with truck of the wheelbase you ended up with instead of getting it streched?
Or was the truck purchase and stretch cheaper than finding a truck with a chassis that length?
Just asking cuz I've seen some pretty long stake bed trucks on the road.
By the way, it's turning out insane. Don't ever remember seeing ceiling fans in any MoHo.

I paid $27K for the truck and it only had 140K miles on it. The motor is rated for 800K miles so I thought i got a pretty good deal. Finding a long wheel base truck in an auto with a lot of HP/TQ was hard to find. Most of the box truck chassis that I saw were 190hp-220hp.
