Robbie
Pm me the time and place.
I need to see this again
blackmagic250R
I like the roll call idea, can we have a show of hands and guestimated horsepower, that way we can see how much horsepower will actually be in this playful contest LOL
Ocotillo Boy
So you ARE going to Glamis?
surf and dune
I'll be there, but honestly if my group is ready for, or already on a dune run thats where I'll be. I would like to see how close I can stay with you at the drags though later on Tim.
BansheeBoy914
PM me the time and location, I missed the first one but don't plan to miss this one

I am in. thumb.gif 575HP
Dirtywhiteboy
LOL 575 HP my butt! I am at Tatum picking up my 1500HP rail tonight. If I can seat the rings with enough miles first, I will run her. Bow Down Racing gang wants new riders and racers. We will be on Pad 3 right where pad 5 starts. Come on by and look for a few metal flaked Tatums and we will hammer down. If we have a big commitment on this roll call we should go back to the backside of roadrunner. If it's a small crowd, we can run on pad 3 toward pad 4?Who wants to play with Tim???

OK how about 595? icon_biggrin.gif

My camera has 100-400mm HP and I will try to get over there.

Don't forget to establish a good finish line.

Great idea! This was much needed the first time! They were a lot of fun to watch.
Jeep Duner
Can you pm me if location changes. I have a couple guys with nice cameras in camp that could get some great video.
surf and dune
Why run this race on such a flat area? Most of the battle in our sport is getting the suspension dialed to get all that power down. Why not run it at the drags mid day? Theres no one around then.
Glamis Girl 777
Can someone please PM me the time and location? I missed the last one, I would really love to come and watch..
King Tim
i dont care where , but we need to establish it . i am fine with the same location we did last time at noon . so i unless someone is opposed to it , lets keep it the same . saturday at high noon ! at the same location . so far it looks like

Who the hell knows! I was there and I don't even know. I think the big block car with the twin turbos was the fastest car there, but it was a free-for-all with no starter and I'm not even sure there was a finish line that I saw. The only thing I DO know is that track SUCKS! Holy crap is that effin' dangerous. There was a kiddy track towards the road side so everyone moved closer to the lane so the cars would not hit it. But that just made the course narrower which was another scary thing in its self. And at the end of the track that big roller then dip. What a stupid thing to have at the end of a race course. plthumbsdown.gif

that track was a little harry at times , i had the front wheels up a few times at the finish line ,hitting those rollers at some pretty high speeds . tim

No doubt in my mind Andrew Buck was by far the fastest. Not even close. But a lot of potentially fast cars didn't even make passes. Was pretty lame organization if you ask me. Maybe the rich guys that want to race need to hire a couple of us worker bees to make it happen, since they clearly can't do it themselves. icon_biggrin.gif

well all you had to do was step up doug . i did not see anybody stopping you . nobody said it had to be organized . it was all about having fun . i had a good time . keep in mind in regards to andrew . he had a tendancy to jump the gun way before the bush we used the last two times . now with no starter it may be a little hard to gat an even start , but he made sure he started first for sure . tim beer.gif

QG here.... (Doug is having a cerveza icon_biggrin.gif )

Tim, if we would have known that you guys needed a starter, finishing "camera" line guy, clipboard with brackets for winners and elimination, we had a whole group that would have pitched in for sure! Robbie and Doug both had the super high speed cameras there and could have set up the "finish line" etc. If there is a next one and we are there, you can count on us for help!

That being said, I also agree that Andrew was by far the fastest there, I even saw him start BEHIND the others that were racing, in the roost, and smoked them. It was REALLY cool to see some of the fastest, coolest and prettiest rides in Glamis rune at the same time. Great show fo sho! Now if only I could hitch a ride for one of those passes! oto.gif icon_biggrin.gif

well that is a great gesture . it would have been nice to have some organization and i am sure doug is very capable . thats the kind of thing that if people want to volunteer , they should speak up . it's hard to get everybody going in the same direction sometimes . it just seems like doug is being a little harsh . i would have welcome him helping . i wanted to run in the race , not run the race . the only way it will work is if people watching volunteer like in this case . tim

If you are talking about that black monster car, I would not even put him in the top three! He jump started a few times from what I saw and still got beat...

To be honest, I have not been on the board in ages, but I figured that someone in all the excitement before this would take charge and say " Hi we need a flagger, timer, photographer etc" way before the actual event. dunno.gif Also, like I said we were just hangin out on the side line, but it never ceases to amaze me of the people crossing the path that you guys are coming down, driving up the wrong way, and just being clueless. I see the same crap at the drags, I don't see how folks dont understand if you KNOW FOR A FACT that a 2500+ pound car traveling near 100 MPH could be coming your way, what in holy hell would possess you to want to drive UP the track on a quad or side x side, or cross just taking your sweet damn time. I simply do not get it. I kinda feel bad for the guys that are running the drags because if some jackhole decided to drive hi quad the wrong way across/up the path you are coming, it is pretty fun sarcasm.gif to try to avoid those guys.

It was a good time, and good show for sure. icon_biggrin.gif Thanks to all of you guys that came out and put on a great show!

As someone that raced, I had a great time playing with friends. The spectators thought the track was a little 'hairy' at the end (as I did) until I rolled it. We do far more crazy stuff while duning.

Well that is part of the problem! no one knew from where we were sitting could see (or was there even someone there???) the start line etc. I think that with a little more organization it will be a fantastic event for sure! But to us casual observers, it looked like a bunch of the best cars in Glamis making some awesome high speed passes with no rhyme or reason of who was running who, but still awesome. I still think Andrew's buggy was the fastest.

QG
Chris C.
Andrew did hedge his bet on some of the races. But he was defintely one of the top 3 cars for sure in speed on that day. Some of the faster cars had trouble keeping the front end

down.

The Mighty Mouse Car was most impressive, considering he held his own for such a small car, that probably cost 1/16th of some of those cars.

There was no money involved, it was just for fun. I would like to see the race when it is for $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

ANGELMONEY
I agree Andrew was pulling away it most of the runs I saw him in. BIG props to mighty mouse a true contender fo sho.
I dont think Aron ran he was having boost trouble.
Old Skool
Mighty Mouse here.... First off thanks for the props!! Its always fun to run with the "Big Boys" and its even better when you get the "What the _____ " look LOL

I agree the race was not really organized, but I must say the Tim did ask around to get a starter while I was standing there and no one in the immediate area would step up and do it. It sounded like it was just going to be for fun after that....

I would do it again but would rather have it somewhere where you are not leaving the ground at those speeds if we are going to run it out to faster speeds. (I am geared for about 130) That second roller is just scary for my little car. I can come off the first roller with the front wheels off the ground (at 100 mph) and when you drop in the "dip" between the two rollers it really bottoms out the car.. then you get the rebound on the second roller and leave the ground. As light as my car is its just too scary so I always let out before that, and if it ever came off crooked, WOW that would suck!

Still, all in all...... I had a blast!!

I have some pics posted from what I would consider the finish line. I'll get them posted later this week. From my vantage point, the start wasn't clear. However, at the finish, Andrew was in front most of the time. I do have one shot in th camera that clearly shows Andrew and DirtyWhiteBoy dead even at the finish, with Mighty Mouse in between them and right with them although just a tick behind. Didn't get a pic, but I saw one car ahead of Andrew at the finish. Don't know who it is but the car has crazy graphics with a lot of colors, and an oval window in the back.
Was looking forward to seeing Supreme Air run, too bad.

I agree on the track. Rollers are too big, IMO. In addition to the few that crossed the track like idiots, Tim kept coming back up the track on his right. At one point, he was still crossing the track near the finish area when two other cars came barreling down the track. Not good. However, nothing happened, and I am thankful for that.

Right around Y2K, a lot of the fast cars started running at Pad 3, heading South, in the afternoon during the normal time for the drags. At that time, the regular drags were getting to be such a free for all that a lot of the fast cars wouldn't even line up. We started going to pad 3 instead and having a mini drags down there, but with the best of the best cars. While I don't have a sand car any more (I have a Teryx these days), I think you guys should consider something like this again. It is long, flat, wide, and smooth.

What power train is in your car? Looked like it had a chain case, Busa power maybe?
Old Skool
Intimidation... Wow what a factor, I was sitting there and Andrew pulled up on one side and DirtyWhiteBoy on the other!

Heart started pounding, got caught sleeping at the start and hit the rev limiter two times trying to make up time!! Not making excuses at all, just saying that knowing when the big boys line up with you its really hard to keep it together!!

That was the only time I got to run Andrew, and with DirtyWhiteBoy on the other side... the intimidation was definelty a factor! LOL

MM gets the props from me as well. That car is fast.

Not a great shot but you can tell he is running hard.
