I think he "rolled" the track to see what it was all about...

As someone that raced, I had a great time playing with friends. The spectators thought the track was a little 'hairy' at the end (as I did) until I rolled it. We do far more crazy stuff while duning.

Dude did you roll your car??

No, I rolled (drove) over the 'rollers' at the end of the track.

D-MAX- thanks. I love this car!
D-MAXimus
No problen! Did you decide to try the higher boost this time or did you leave it as it was before?
Booshy
I have to say it was a bit unorganized. I think in the Past Aaron and Craig have taken the ball and ran with it. But with Craig having his new car just delivered and Aaron having an oil pressure issue it was more of a free for all. We still enjoyed watching though.. Since the BDR guys started this I hope we can keep these gatherings going with out anyone putting any direct liability on themselves. We just want it to be a friendly gathering of friends and sand enthusiasts. So I think there is a little fear of making it to organized from a liability standpoint. I know I don't want the liability. We just want a way to get good people together away from the mayhem of the main drags and a safer environment..

I can tell you I have been working with Aaron and Craig to get a website up to showcase the cars that attend these events. I had also hoped to make it a place to go and get info on the next event and location. As well as a place to track who won the last event? Have High quality pictures posted and videos. Keeping it off the GD boards. I think we should just call it "Horse Power Wars Car Show" or a gathering. If races happen and wagering happens at the event so be it. Consenting adults can do what they want right?.

Does anyone think by having a starter and more organization there could be someway to point liability on someone??

I don't mind at all spending some money to help make this a fun and more organized event I just don't want the liability put on me for doing that.

I really enjoyed watching the cars race but did see some close passes by the crowed at close to 100mph that made me a bit nervous. Plus racers turning back up the course and parking close to the crowd. Which made the course even more dangerous and thinner.

I would appreciate any thoughts and ideas how to make this a great event minus the liability and issues???

If there is a way I can help...I'd be glad to make the drive out.

I have some pics posted from what I would consider the finish line. I'll get them posted later this week. From my vantage point, the start wasn't clear. However, at the finish, Andrew was in front most of the time. I do have one shot in th camera that clearly shows Andrew and DirtyWhiteBoy dead even at the finish, with Mighty Mouse in between them and right with them although just a tick behind. Didn't get a pic, but I saw one car ahead of Andrew at the finish. Don't know who it is but the car has crazy graphics with a lot of colors, and an oval window in the back.
Was looking forward to seeing Supreme Air run, too bad.

I agree on the track. Rollers are too big, IMO. In addition to the few that crossed the track like idiots, Tim kept coming back up the track on his right. At one point, he was still crossing the track near the finish area when two other cars came barreling down the track. Not good. However, nothing happened, and I am thankful for that.

Right around Y2K, a lot of the fast cars started running at Pad 3, heading South, in the afternoon during the normal time for the drags. At that time, the regular drags were getting to be such a free for all that a lot of the fast cars wouldn't even line up. We started going to pad 3 instead and having a mini drags down there, but with the best of the best cars. While I don't have a sand car any more (I have a Teryx these days), I think you guys should consider something like this again. It is long, flat, wide, and smooth.

where are the pics?

Typo in red. Pics aren't posted yet, see blue text. Wifey has the camera, i'll get them up in a day or two.

The car in question w/ oval rear window belongs to Wide Load it's a Racer as is the black and silver one owned by Avenger..... looked to me like the Racer cars owned the drags this weekend.

First time at HP wars. Was really cool to be over by roadrunner and away from the "normal drags." Everyone with us had a blast. There were two close calls near the start that were scary. Andrew did look to be the fastest although it was very hard to see the start. Mighty Mouse is crazy fast.

Props where props are due .....Andrew.....I don't hate I congradulate...On a side note I think my old car would kick a$$ and take names on that course its not long enough..The green machine is faster then hell out of the whole but petters out on the top ....I told everybody to take it to pad 3 or the Gecko drags ...... On That course you cant spread you're legs so a car that weighs 2500 lbs with 750 h/p may look as fast as a car that has 1200 h/p these are jmho ....what do I know....a 100 mph is easy to get to 120 mph is a little harder..
nosocks
Long story but I was MIA.

I fully intend to be at the next set.

Regarding safety and organization:

The track really needs to go the other way. North rather than south. A SXS needs to be at the start, both cars must not pass him with their noses and when he slams the brakes that is the green light. It is up to the SXS driver to call foul. If he does, you must turn around and try over.

There needs to be someone on the canal side of the the run, the buggies must pass on this side and meet the individual there to declare their win or loss. That individual will carry a check list with all the names and will count losses. Lose 3 times and you need to park or go home, depending on your mood. There will be 2 individuals at the end, they will have radios to relay info about who won and come to a consensus about the winner, they will tell the clip board holder what's up.

There also needs to be a little policing on behalf of the crowd, if someone looks like they're gonna keep going on to the track into a participant, YELL DAMN IT!!! Your well being as well, as that of those putting on a show for you, is at stake.

Glad everyone had fun, I'm sad that I missed out but it is what it is.

A defined starting line, a starter, a finish line and an established return lane would be nice. Otherwise, you have no idea when to take off, where to line up and where to let off. Not to mention having cars return down the drag strip isn't a good idea.

GPR, thanks a million. Great Pics, I'll use one for my Avatar. Thanks to all those that came out to watch and to play with us. It's nice to open up some horsepower and not see a quad in front of you. My car is still in break in mode via computer and my rings have not seated yet. I still had fun flogging it, and look forward to goin a little faster too. Andrew was the King of this months HP WARS in my opinion. Andrew, I will be looking for you at Easter on high boost! Aaron is a show all of his own...Bring It brother. How about Wild Bill??? Just flat haulin arse. He made the 1000HP club with ease. He's the fastest blower car I've ever raced. Just volunteer at any future event. Just pitch in and flag or start the races with your sxs, or flash the racers, it's all good. Anything is appreciated. sraptor.gif

We were the RZR and Rhino in the above pics. never saw Buck's motor smokin, think that was a photo of dust, but we were at "the finish" not the start. MM was kickin arse for sure, but Buckshot was the fastest one there...this round. Like everyone has said, if you guys get a flagger and 2 official cameras at the finish line, wherever that may be, you'd have a definite result. No matter what, was an awesome show with a few mil of the fastest cars in Glamis, my bro-in-law loved the show!

No doubt in my mind Andrew Buck was by far the fastest. Not even close. But a lot of potentially fast cars didn't even make passes. Was pretty lame organization if you ask me. Maybe the rich guys that want to race need to hire a couple of us worker bees to make it happen, since they clearly can't do it themselves. icon_biggrin.gif

well all you had to do was step up doug . i did not see anybody stopping you . nobody said it had to be organized . it was all about having fun . i had a good time . keep in mind in regards to andrew . he had a tendancy to jump the gun way before the bush we used the last two times . now with no starter it may be a little hard to gat an even start , but he made sure he started first for sure . tim beer.gif

Got to agree with Tim on this one. Andrew was always trying to cheat on the start. That made it all the more satisfying to beat him.

If you guys ran at Pad 3 you could stay in the throttle the whole time, and not be in the air every couple of seconds.
Which car is yours wide load?

How do you guys think some of the older fast cars would fare? Outfront John, where are you? Ralph's old 3 rotor SU middy, etc.

s2k1, my car is the Racer with all the wild color on it. I think you are right about pad three. You could definetly have a longer race there. I think you have a chance of having more traffic over there though. No real perfect scenario. As far as the rollers go, I was just having fun on them. I think they are probably pretty scary in some cars. Mine happens to handle them fine. I know Tim got a huge face full of sand on one of them and that's no fun if that happens. Anyway, it was all in fun. Loved seeing all the cars and people having a fun afternoon. Great to see Craig finally get his car which turned out really nice by the way. I dont know how those those older fast cars would fare. I have never seen them run. Would love to see them. Have heard a bunch of people talk about them.
