I have called around about having my Stator rewound. I talked to Ricky stator and they turned me onto
Custom Remind I called and they said they could rewind my stator but because the use a special magnet in that stator I could MAYBE get 15 to 20% more power out of it.
What are my options?? Does anyone make a chain driven Alternator? Or can I run a belt off the sprocket shaft??
Ideas???
chain driven alternator, what a great idea. Why not? mount a sprocket on the alternator and mount it like a chain tensioner? Is there room anywhere?
thinking about it, it would be easier for the driver part of it, because you could in theory drive it off the front drive sprocket, basically make a billet extension mount ANOTHER sprocket and run the alternator right above, it wouldnt take much to convert it since you could pull the pulley off the alternator and machine a sprocket to mate onto (clear the key whole). I would then find out the calculations on the RPM the alternator needs to pull and make it happen through the gearing....
it sounds much easier, but my fear is when the chain lets go it may not happen but it is a Wat IF moment, it would actually be easier to do the tensioner as well because you could make it a manual tension with a built pressing agains the alternator
PS. you guys made me run out into the garage, here is my idea.
use a VW alternator, they provide plenty of wats and can charge battery's in a instant. the plus side of this is the fact that the vw alternators are designed to have a pully on them, which is removable, you can in theory place your drive sprocket on the keyway already provided, then you do the "mini extension" and make the alternator adjustable so that you can push the whole alternator vertically, I would use bolts with nuts. That may just work
my only fear is when the chain breaks its going to do a hell of a job with everything around it
