why do I have to pay to use land that my tax dollars already "bought". Say that the land cannot be built on and that the open space will remain... cool... they are taking away the access to that public land.

lets the states own it and run it .. get the federal govt out of the ?....

i wish thoes butt holes in washington had a life and did something with it... wish there would ride dirtbikes and quads to see how fun it was.. maybe then they would want to shut everything down for us..

Legit Duner
Let States run it? That is a dangerous proposition.. Cali would be a no walking zone..
As much as it hurts all of us, we need UNTOUCHED space.. PERIOD....
If it wasn't for federal protection we wouldn't have half the beautiful places we do, not to mention they have saved many animals from dumb arse, ignorant people including our American Spirit, the Bald Eagle..
Let it sit and have our children open it up for their enjoyment.

let me go on record by stressing my original post.. Something like this needs to be voted on by the people, no ONE man should have such power.

ture.. lets put a fence around a red wood treeor a fence around a dune.. .. so our kids will be able to see it.. isnt that what they are doing now..

theses people are so dumb that they thought that fires in the forest are would destroy all the trees.. well 40 years later they found out that there were no new red woods ... fyi fire is needed to make big red wood trees..
in our cases they have to dunes to the north shouldnt that be enough..?

there is a point of over kill here.. but its true.. the left and cali people in sacramento are closing everything they wont stop till its all closed..

its sad how we are losing the war.. on everything.. i hate the red tape!

Blue Ribbon Coalition (BRC) NATIONWIDE ACTION ALERT
SECRET DOCUMENT REVEALS OBAMA CONSIDERING 13 MILLION ACRE LAND GRAB
ANTIQUITIES ACT ABUSES MUST END - ACTION ITEM BELOW

Dear ASA Action Alert Subscriber

If you had a chance to stop the Clinton Administration from designating all those Monuments, would you take it?

The Obama Administration is well on its way to match former President Clinton's Monument designation spree. Thanks to a whistle-blower in the Department of the Interior, a secret Obama administration plan to grab 13 million acres of public and private lands across 11 western states has been exposed.

The secret document indicates the DOI is operating on the assumption that the Monuments will be designated, even so far as to budgeting funds for purchasing private land inholdings. That's why we need your help today.

BRC is requesting that Congress pass legislation that provides some sort of mechanism or process for Congressional review of Antiquities Act proclamations, and also for a method for State and local input before any designation takes place.

In the meantime, we need our members to immediately contact their congressional representatives and ask them to go on record as opposing any unilateral action by the administration.

Ric has put together another one of our INSANELY EASY 3 - Step Action Items, so it won't take more than 3 or 4 minutes out of your day.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO CONTACT YOUR LAWMAKERS:

NOTE: Please be polite and, if possible, make your comments as personal as you can.

STEP 1: Click on the following link to go to BRC's Rapid Response Center. http://www.sharetrails.org/rapid_response/ and in the "Contact Lawmakers" box type your zip code and click GO. Click on your representative's name and then click on the Contact tab to locate their phone number.
Follow the same steps for each senator.

STEP 2: When you call, use the talking points below to help make your point. Be brief and polite, but make sure the staff person understands you OPPOSE new National Monuments.

STEP 3: Take just a minute to forward this alert to friends and family and ask them to do the same.

TALKING POINTS
A recently obtained internal document from the Department of the Interior (DOI) shows the Obama Administration is considering using the Antiquities Act to designate National Monuments on 13 million acres of public and private lands in 11 western states.

I am asking you to go on record as opposing any unilateral monument designations by the Administration. Also, I want you to sponsor or co-sponsor legislation that requires Congressional review of Antiquities Act proclamations. This process should also allow for State and local government as well as public input before any designation takes place.

Given the economic crisis our nation is in today, this is not a good use of my taxes.

Thank you for allowing me to express my concern.

pronstar
Not surprising. He's trying to get all sorts of stuff past the public/congressional approval using Executive Orders.
richard cheese
legitduner...go to Kelso Dunes....we can NEVER ride there....EVER.....that is enough untouched land for me.

with close to 500 million acres or more wrapped up in national parks BEFORE this BS, i would say we have enough already
yummi
Well, it does not even take an Executive Order.........

There has clearly been a shift and announcements came this weekend - outside the news cycle.

There was a directive issued from the department of Agriculture in May 2009, this weekend, about 90% of the lands you may ride in National Forests were removed from you. All we need now is the same "Directive" for the BLM and it is curtains for the dunes as they are a "road-less area."

From Arkansas:

The National Forest Service is tightening its rules for riders of All-Terrain Vehicles, or ATVs.

And one group is trying to fight the ruling, saying it would do more harm than good.

The National Forest Service issued a new map of where it is acceptable to ride ATV's in the Ouachita National Forest. Out of the 1.8 million acres in the forest, 130 miles of non-connected trails would be allowed for ATV use.

That's 90 percent less than before.

Some trails, like the Wolf Pen Gap in Mena, will only be open for a certain part of the year, from May to September for example.

Arizona:
QUOTE
By August, riders of all-terrain vehicles could be limited in where they can go in northern Arizona's Kaibab National Forest near Williams.

The U.S. Forest Service plans to limit ATV access to only roads in the area, ending a longtime policy of letting ATV riders drive where they want.

The Forest Service also is considering closing about 25 percent of those forest roads _ largely ones that parallel other roads.

Williams District Ranger Martie Schramm says the goal is a balance between people who like to ride ATVs and people who like quieter activities like hiking.

Similar measures are proposed for Arizona's Coconino National Forest, although the Coconino forest has not released specifics.

It's part of a Forest Service directive to limit travel in forests to existing roads.

May 28, 2009

U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.) today applauded a new directive from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that protects vulnerable habitats in national forests while permanent protections for roadless areas are developed.

On March 18, 2009, Inslee led a bi-partisan letter to Secretary Vilsack, asking for the issuance of today’s directive. The letter was supported by 120 other members of Congress. For several years, Inslee has led Congressional efforts to reinstate the Roadless Area Conservation Rule.

“I applaud the Department of Interior for their thoughtful action to shield roadless areas in national forests from development,” said Inslee, a member of the House Natural Resources Committee and leading advocate for roadless areas. “Development decisions in roadless areas should require Secretary-level approval to go forward, until a larger comprehensive plan is in place. There are currently many unresolved issues, and we must not let development proceed in a haphazard fashion. This timeout will give the USDA time to carefully design proper criteria for development in roadless areas.”

First they say no buildings keep it open for all to see..... Not much opisition there
Next the kick out the offroaders they tear up the terain and make it difficult for the Hikers, Horseman and Mountain Bikers to use the area.
After that it's the Mountain Bikers fallowed by the Horseman and finaly the Hikers..
Limit the people who use it one at a time till there is nobody at the end to complain about the closing of the land. This is the tactic's they have used for years.
bjm424
he is doing the land grab now so we will have land to give to china when they call in our debt to them. As a rancher in TX, no one know how to manage my land better than i do, no govt worker in washington can manage my land better than me and my family

govt is a virus and liberty is the cure
