Anyone see the wreck at Oldsmobile on 2/20/2010? It was pretty crazy. Here are some crappy pictures from my phone. It was a wheelie gone bad. Not sure if this has been posted yet or not but I figured I would put it up.

Hope they were OK. Seems to be too many wheelies gone bad there lately. All in the name of show, doesn't seem worth it.

the bars that extend out to the back of the lid on the light bar bent into a v and pushed the lid down, not sure who got hit with the lid. But someone was really bleeding bad on their head from it. It was hard to tell who was driving by the time I got up there everyone was out.

to try to help with the picture confusion, it landed on the drivers side with the lid facing up oldsmobile, and then they pushed it back over after everyone got out because it was leaking gas.
and what happened, was he was doing some wheelies starting on the left side of olds towards the top. and he was doing well. but then he held one a little too long and in about the middle section of olds, it kinda has a gradual up hill(sorry im trying to explain it is best as i can), and he set it down on that and it compressed the suspension and just launched the car into the air, landed sideways and then flipped.

FIRST AND FOREMOST I am glad everyone is ok. Guardian Angels working overtime on this one
but I also hope this goes to show that wheelies are meant for perfect riding conditions and the fact he was side hilling while wheeling (possibly taking out quads and other rails going the RIGHT direction up hill), shows just how much whit this driver really had...
just cause you can afford it doesnt mean you can drive it...

Glad to hear they are OK. My guess is a helmet could have made a big difference. Maybe no injury at all. I wonder how much experience the 16 year old had in the car. Takes a long time to work up to long wheelies and feel what the car is doing. I bet that poor kid is going to fell horrible about this.

Why do people feel the need to go against 99% of the up and down traffic on Old's? Wasn't what happened a couple of weeks ago sobering enough?

I know I'm one of the 10% (maybe) that wears a helmet (I know TNTDuner does) in the sand car, pretty much each ride. Ever see the thread with the rolled Buckshot where the dude had a dozen staples in his head when the shocks exploaded..

Get the helmet.

I think if your gonna have a light bar, the prudent thing for any chassis builder should include some bracing to prevent the lights from crushing the roof. That chassis could have ended up 100% OK, and still killed 2 people.

I guess I'm the only one who was allowed that kinda leeway at that age around here.
Kids should have been wearing helmets, but there are plenty of kids that age that can really drive and take just as much care with their surroundings as many of those twice their age.
Andy mcmillin was likely driving class 1 cars around at that age, did just fine, made him a great driver early. Probably the same story for Paul Tracy and every other great driver out there. I was given similar opportunities myself, and I don't think I came out half bad as a driver

Everyone makes mistakes, just need to learn from them and hope no one gets hurt.

I dont even know what my dad would do if I did a wheelie SIDE HILL in his rail and I am 21, I probably wouldnt make it back to camp

. in my honest opinion its about respect, and the lack there of for other duners. If you are in the middle of no where then I can see doing this but I cant see it on OLDS or any major hills, the fact is even if the hill is clear, how many of us drop in on olds from behind? I rarely take the wash road.
Maybe its because I came from ATV's and I still ride mine more then I drive my buggies. But when people hop in these giant cars they dont realize the speed they build, the power they carry and just how many other people (then themselves) they risk. EXAMPLE, I am going down the drags on my cheetah banshee (which can hit 70 if I get the right line) if I wreck I can take out about 3 or 4 people, I know that... and it sucks when you really think about it. Now I am carrying the same speed in a 2500 pound car, I can easly take out 15...
wasnt it Robbie or Coobie that posted the picture of the mom who flipped her car presidents weekend? And if I got the info right, the only reason that happend was she broke a rear trailing arm... EVERY CAR MADE has the chance to do that, and I dont believe more then 5% of these big cars get any sort of prep like they deserve... people just drive till something breaks.... well when I am pounding sand at 80 mph I dont wanna be waiting for sh!t to break...
again, I am glad the kids are okay, but I would ask the father if he would stick his 16 year old in a sports car and send him around town.
I want to also state that I am not claiming everyone with a big car is a dip, I am just saying that every season I meet new duners who "came out with a buddy once" and now have a ls1 long travel car... the learning curve is a steep one these days. Its not like back in the day when you had a 1600vw then a 2.0 vw and then a v6.... alot of people will never even know the joy you have when you make it to china hill with a stock 1600 LOL.
okay
