It's paint, I had a single stage acrylic enamel mixed in PPG paint at the local tasco. I had them color match it to an original red piece of the bike before I sandblasted it. They also matched and mixed the silver for me. We shot it at my bodies body shop. It really shines nice and deep up close.

I'm gearing up to start on a 73 restoration and I'm curious what the z50 foam and cover look like. Have you seen or done this before? Thanks

I haven't done it, but there was a guy on ebay selling a 73 k1 seat pan that he put a z50 foam and the heat seamed cover on (also from a z50 according to his ad) and it looked perfect. It has the kick up in the rear like the k1. DRATV.com sells both the foam and the cover. But, the cover is cheaper on ebay. Here's the link

coming along, restored the seat with new paint, foam, and then.............the cheapest reproduction seat cover I've ever seen!! The sticker says it all. The seams split just trying to install it. My fingernails scratched into it while pulling it tight. I'm sending it back.

Just waiting on the engine back now, was going with the stock piston because jug was within specs but the rings were frozen onto it. It still went up and down but the rings wouldn't spin they were frozed onto the piston, broke the piston taking them off. Ordered an oversize one and going to do a small bore to make everything perfect!! Just bought 2 more 70's so I need to finish this one before taking on too much. I already have the new decal kit from peewee (looks awsome).
