A co-worker was at Glamis last weekend camped in the washes and said they had a flash flood that went through there camp shock.gif . She said it was several feet across and a few inches high. A couple of guys on quads rode into there camp and told them the water was coming. They picked up as much as they could before it rolled through. It only lasted a few minutes but it did enough damage to the camp that they decided to move and to avoid another run of water.

I've never witnessed that in person. One day I hope to! Glad they were all OK.

The rain could be a couple miles to the east when it happens because the water flows to the dunes. There is all this desert area pictured to collect it.

I witnessed a few as a kid camped on the north side of 78 behind the old store, watched flash floods come through about a foot high, and very wide, and absolutely wipe out some camps, and also watched people try to drive through the washes when they hit, funny as hell, watching em float downstream laughing.gif
