So 1-3 seem ok but when I shift in to 4th and hammer the gas it slips? If I just cruz in 4th its ok but when I gas it it slips "WHY" . Clutch is a new six puck with about two trips on it. I messed with the adjuster and its letting all the way out as far as I can tell?

I have had a issue with 4th like that, but I had a huge chatter. When the trans was pulled apart 4th had broke the welds and was slipping on the shaft. Might not be the clutch, good luck.

hmmm mine makes no noise the motor just gets loud and the car goes slow.

What PP are you running? I'd expect a Kennedy stage 2 to do that BUT not a stage 3? Some versions of the 4.3 have a ton of torque!

If it is not doing this in 1st and 2nd, then it might not be the clutch.

Stage 3
Morgy
did you also replace the pressure plate with the new clutch?
Taz29
Yup new PP and disk

What do you mean by oil? Also if it matter you built the tranny.

if its leaky at all the clutch will fry, but you should feel it all the time...

if it slips in 4th but not 1-3, it makes me think more then clutch, 3rd gear is a high enough ratio to make the clutch slip IF thats whats slipping. Do you smell clutch when your driving? clutch odor should occure almost instantly if the clutch is slipping.
donson
maybe it the tires spinning?
Taz29
Nope never smell clutch but I hardly ever get in 4th. It does seem I have a small main seal leak?

May sound like a dumb question here but is there free play between the throw out bearing and the pressure plate fingers? With your clutch slave disconnected from the clutch arm can you move the arm some. About 1/16 to 1/4 of and inch? If the throw out bearing has any pressure on the fingers of the PP that would cause this kind of problem. If the throw out bearing is exerting any pressure on the fingers then when you pin it in fourth the crank shaft will move back some from end play and could cause this to happen.

heres the deal, the higher you go in the gears, the more pressure is put on the clutch/tranny, if you are noticing it slips when you get to 4th, and it doesnt make any noise, then I say its your main seal, oil and a clutch DOES NOT MIX. also, if you have enough oil on the clutch, you wont get any smell, because infact it isnt grippin at all
