why does everyone call them craptors? my dad was looking at them and he liked them....hes said..."andrew, its a 660, reverse, and more comfortable! plus CHEAPER! why not the raptor?" I said, i dont know, they are craptors i guess, and he looked at me wierd...
JFisher304
Compared to most sport quads they are heavy, tall and have suspension that is not quite up to par. They are a well build beast except for the first year that had trans problems. Some people love them, but if you are going to race or do some hard core speed duning there are better choices out there. Even though they have less power and no reverse, I would take a 400ex over a craptor any day. Just my .02
BaNsHeE350
depends on what you want to use it for
Rubberneck
For 660cc's they seem underpowered.

Shovel Boy

Rubberneck
SHOCKER, are you a pro now? Do you have a bluebook value?
Shovel Boy
no 6700 sorry
SHOCKER
No im not rubberneck, it just seemed like alot, what mods are on the raptor? 6700 sounds more like it, an 04 is a good deal, expecially with mods, what color? is it the red and white, that what i origanally wanted was the red and white 04' raptor from alba, but we got the Z instead which i love icon_smile.gif

I have a raptor and a banshee, been riding quads for around 20 years. I have ridden every model out there except the YFZ450.

I really disliked my Raptor at first, in stock form. After a Pipe, Jets and K&N Filter I would have to say it is the most enjoyable quad I have ever been on.

I have a buddy that just purchased a new Raptor, I took it for a spin and realized just how much more power mine makes with those small mods.

Only other quad I would enjoy riding would be one of the new Yamaha or Honda 450's..
throwinrox
$6700 with $600 in accessories is not bad, as long as they didn't jack up the price on the accessories to off set the quad price. Congrats you will have a blast with it. Someday I will get off the old school 185s laughing.gif and get something new.

Shovel Boy
BTW SHOCKER, im getting red and white
SHOCKER
Sweet, red and white raptors are the best
A-Dare
Alba or trinity pipe seems to make the most HP, but they are LOUD!!!!

As far as bikes go, raptor is great bike, does sit a little tall and tippy, but not bad. As far as saying rather ride a 400ex, not even the same ball park, talk about under powered.
SHOCKER
Yeah, but weighing 200 lbs will lower the bike a little icon_wink.gif yeah the alba pipes are loud, but they are great, no louder than mine
Shovel Boy
yah i know im a big guy, just got back riding at the shovel with a guy who owns a 400ex, it was fun

White Brothers E Series.

Yes it is loud, but I have heard worse.

Thats not a bad deal, I paid $7K for mine out the door, then got a free set of rims, paddles, and a couple jerseys, I also bought it the week before Thanksgiving so they were in high demand, I threw an Alba pipe kit on mine and it made a huge difference, I also went down one tooth in the front sprocket, and that was a great improvement as well, congrats on the new quad, I am sure you will like it.
PimpShackDave
Good luck with the Craptor! laughing.gif As everyone says, they seem a bit tall and tippy (but I know Ian will be the first to differ, and he's an owner while I'm just a bystander). Extended a-arms, axles, and suspension can fix that. I don't know about the underpowered part, the ones I've rode could beat my wife's 400ex, but that was before I started modding hers...with equal money spent on mods the Raptor probably wins the race, but I just flat out didn't like the ride. I'd take the 400 any day.

That said, know that it was said by a guy with probably 45 minutes total time in the saddle, maybe I would have gotten used to it and liked it more if I'd have given it a chance. I wub.gif my 'shee though. icon_biggrin.gif

Thats what I meant by under powered. 400EX's are very underpowered and most people compare the raptor to a 400EX. laughing.gif It has 260cc's more and should be in a whole different league. Just my opinion though.

Shovel spank, good luck with it. I'm sure you'll still enjoy it.
Yamiboy
i have a buddy in my group w/ one and im not impressed with it. i dont know if its him or the bike. he cant beat me and he weighs 80lbs less than me. he has a piped raptor and i have a piped banshee. he has even got spnaked by a 400ex in our group. i think its more the bike cuz he has messed with it so much the thing is probably out of balance. he tried to rejett like 3 times to get it right and he tried to do it himself. im just not impressed with those bikes at all. so if you do plan to make your own mods to it research it first. he didnt do very much research and i think thats why the bike seems slow.

thats my $.02

Based on your statement above, it cannot be the bike!!!
I has to be the person working on the bike that has little knowledge of how to tweak the bottons just right.

No raptor will ever be beaten by a 400. If it happens, it's the rider!!
A banshee I believe could beat a raptor on the hills. Out on the flat open, I believe the raptor has an advantage.

So, it's not the Bike. Raptors are pretty cool machines after you widened the suspension and ad pipe.

I'll believe that when I see it. Other than that, yeah, it's the moron working on the bike causing the problem, not the bike itself.
Yamiboy
well i did state it wrong. it is the bike but its because he worked on it and doesnt know shiat about them. i showed him how to do it once cuz i do know what im doing and he figured he knew what he was doing. he tore it apart 3 times without no one around(that knew what they were doin) and tried to do it himself. so i wont work on his bike or help him anymore cuz the stuff HE did to it. im not a mechanic or i dont know as much as some do on this board but i do know alot. and if you ride this bike you will say to yourself (with a few years experience) "something isnt right here". i mean if a get a good jump and hit the whoops smoothly ill caught him and pass him on the hill.

this is my experience only not every raptor is like this. im just sayin the one i ride with.
