I was watching a friend's kid ride while she was away on a ride, and he came up and pointed to a low oil light. I checked the oil level, and I checked the fuel level, and I rode it around for a few seconds. The oil tank was high. There was plenty of gas. It ran fine and didn't seem hot, and it didn't smell. I turned it on and off several times. Did a visual inspection and couldn't find any obvious loose wires or problems. I unhooked the battery and let it sit for a few minutes and reconnected it. I filled both the oil tank and the fuel tank.

The light was still on.

Is there a known problem with the polaris 90? Am i over looking something stupid. I don't have the owners manual and the boy's mom didn't have it with her. What do I check? They don't have any other 2-stroke quads anymore, so it would be a PITA to do a block off and mix gas for just one quad.

thanks,
Mike

Mike, I have two of them and I have never expereinced the light staying on before...

My son has a polaris 50 and it happens to his too. I have to keep the oil tank full to keep it from happening.

Do the bypass on ALL of your oil injection quads. I just sold my 90 that I did the bypass on. The gears can fail. I know, we seized our KFX80 with that eff*ing oil injection system.

I bypassed all 4 of my 2 stroke quads and mix gas.

I agree with ABC. That is the only way to be SURE that the motor is getting enough oil. That being said, our Polaris 50 oil light does come on when the oil sloshes in the tank, but it never stays on for long. Im not sure if the tank on the 90 is the same as the 50, but if it is, here is something to check: On the left is the cap where you fill the tank, on the right is the oil sensor with a wire coming out. You should be able to pull out the sensor (just a rubber boot holding it on) and check to make sure that the slide on the sensor isn't restricted at all and moves up and down freely. It could be stuck on the bottom and giving you a false reading.
