Getting ready to start Moto #2 Sunday afternoon. Waiting for the 2nd gate - kick started the 02 yz gave her a little rev - heard a sound that resembles : if you kick start the bike & don't bring the kick starter up right after its started sorta like a winding out - then the bike stalls. Kick starter is locked. Put the bike in gear = no rolling even with clutch engaged. Kick starter still locked. Missed the race. Could it be........spring from clutch or dang I don't wanna say....seized? Changed oil the night before - may have been an ounce short.
Anything to make me feel better would help

Hard to say until you tear into it. Im laying odds on the kickstarter shaft brokded

Sounds like the crank to me, hope not though

Pulled the cylinder off. Piston skirt broken. Never seen n e thing like it. Crank moves but not easily. More investigation needed in the bottom end. Kick starter still doesn't move. 2-stroke = cheap fix

Skirts breaking off is really common in these bikes.. Thats why they rate pistons for only so many hours because they start to fatigue and eventually crack along the skirt and break off.
