Delivered the sandcar to Don at Sand Cars Unlimited this morning for the R/R of my motor and trans. The noise in the trans. points to a main shaft bearing, so what better time than now to upgrade the trans. and put the wider bearing in and the extended nose cone. Don is such a cool person to work with, very informative and honest. After all the good things I've heard or read about the man, who else in So. Cal. would I take my business to? Don thanks again for opening your doors on a Sat. to take my car in.

Always seems to be the word about them folks over there. Always nice to hear good stories rather that the negative!

This probably should have been done in (sandrail tech) but too late for that, sorry don't know how to move a topic. Anyhow had a little time to play with till kids got out of school so I stopped by SCU to see what may have been causing a starter slippage issue. Since the motor and trans is out what better time to investigate. Don went over with me what was visibly an issue between starter gear and flywheel teeth. (See pics) Yes I remembered the camera! tongue.gif Tranny is in Sam's hands at Rancho, details to follow on that, not the upgrades I had hoped to be able to do. I thought I had a 2d but paperwork on the orig. build stated an e-box was installed. So Don will take the old starter gear and replace it with a new one, and will do a little weld here and a sand there and it should be much better.
So while I was in the shop I snapped a couple shots of two new builds in progress, the car closest to the wall being the new 1.75" tube car. That car looks so much bigger with that size tube.

I thought that car looked familiar when I was there Saturday to drop off my adapter plate and block.
Don had some repair work in there which is good for him.
