This information was passed on via the BLM regarding Park Rangers and EMS employee's..
During their "spare" time between emergency calls and working fee collection, these employee's have taken it upon themselves to clean the dunes of the tons of trash left behind every weekend.
Just last month, EMS and Park Rangers collected a total of 910 abandoned tires left in the dunes. One enterprising BLM employee went so far as to arrange a local agreement to have the tires disposed of for free.
Other projects include picking up paper trash, cans and bottles in the dunes, camp sites and in front of dumpsters.

I can not believe they found 910 tires in the dunes! That is a lot of tires!

We did see quite a few tires stacked up by the canal last weekend. But 910!!! NOT.

Not to single out BLM employees, but I'll believe it when I see it with my own eyes.
As with any employee, they SHOULD be busy doing something constructive every minute that they're on the clock, rather than getting OT just standing aroud waiting for a criminal to walk up to them. It's like admitting that they're finally doing some work. A better plan would be to have chain gangs of convicts and litterbugs picking up trash under BLM supervision.
I've met a number of gov't employees who are motivated and progressive. But they definitely seem to be in the minority. Bureaucracy breeds a particularly expensive type of slug.

I think it's kinda cool to hear that. I saw all the tires piled up on my way in, I figured it had something to do with a plan to barricade the road and do a Gestapoish search of everyone sometime next year...
