I have a Honda 400 EX with sand tires in rear and stock tires in front. What is the best air pressure for the front and rear????

That wouuld be an allmost impossible question to answer. Tire pressure has alot to do with the condition of the sand as well as the way you ride. I would tell you what pressure I run but I am a tire kicker and just go with feel vrs a set pressure.

I had no idea that this was a hard question to answere. I have a honda 400 ex and I have paddles in the back and stock tires in front. I ride at Glamis and I consider my self a above average rider. What more is there to know about an air pressure question?????? Hopefully someone can chime in with a range????

Do you want rear wheel spin or hook up? I run skat trak haulers on my quad and when I want wheel spin, I run about 10 psi. When I want more hook up, I run around 5-8 psi. Fronts, I run about 8-10psi. It really is a personal preferance though.

Edited for: Molded tires need less psi.

I run 3.5lbs all the way around, if you are a big jumper I would go a pound more icon_cool.gif

I would start with 4 all around. If you have a hard time sliding the rear in a turn, or it feels like it is pushing add some to the rear one pound at a time until you achieve a nice powerslide in the turns. The more pressure you run the rougher the choppy stuff will be. Drags and hill; drop the rear a bit for more traction. Soft dry sand likes less pressure, wet sand likes more. Some people run 2 lbs, but I would be worried about popping a bead.

I run 2 1/2 on my 400ex but I am a lighter rider and don't jump much. anywhere fom 3-4 should get you in the ballpark. I also run knobbies front and back in the sand instead of paddles.

always run 4 in all my bikes

usually run 4-5 all the way around. been running 6-7 in the rear of the Raptor 700 to get more slide out of it.. The 400ex is not gonna have a lot of power, would be a good thing to air up some and get a little tire spin out of it. start around 6 or so and go from there. try going up to 8 then down to 4 and see what you like.
my 12 year old daughter rides a YFZ 450. I put a very non aggressive paddle on it. run her about 4-5 and it will slide forever, but she only weighs 95 pounds..
