recived the chassis from mr. offroad friday, dropped it off at fusion offroad the same day. i bought the bare chassis with body work, fuel cell, light bar, dash and some misc. parts
fusion is going to lower the seats 4" and chop the top about 10",going to radius the roof and make it look like a coupe.
hes going to cut the rear point on the frame and put a rear bumper on it
mount a envy race rhino hood over the sheetmetal hood
mount the rc51 motor
build custom +9" arms, gusset the frame some more around the mounting points
custom billet spindles and hubs with 4 wheel oversized brembo brakes
put my old 14" itp wheels on it and make it a roller.
here are some pics of the chassis but it will look totaly different in a couple weeks.
this might take me a while to build but i allready have 2 other rhinos so i wont be siting out trips.

Can't wait to see the build up on this one. How come you just didn't finish the other one you had ? I still can't beleive the guy cut that all up and is putting a beam on it.

Adam, this thing is going to be cool. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get done.

I think Mike spends more time on RD.com.
Adam,
You finish this build this time. So your going to keep this one as a 2 seater?
What's up with your new rail frame? Did you part with that too?

brett, i will keep this rhino a 2 seater and finish it. i might need to sell one of the other rhinos to finish it but i am going to try to keep all 3.
i sold all the parts off my sandrail and even sold the new chassis i had bought.

1300vtwin
Mar 22 2010, 10:42 AM
whats a sippie runner?
my last one had +9"
stetler has +9"
pretty sure alot of motor swaps have them

sippie runner I.E swamp buggy. What is gained over a 6". The arms I built are only +5" and it gets through the bumps at 70 no problem. I am surprised Brian would even build something that wide.

with longer arms you gain more stability, longer axles, more travel ect......
you sound like you know every thing. i think i will pick it up from fusion today and let you build it in your garage so it is exactally like yours. i was going to put a reverse box in mine that fits between the frame rails but i will let you cut my frame up to have no reverse, do you have anymore of thoes huge 9" lights you can mount on my front bumper too

Brian needs the work more than I do, keep it over there. Your a little testy are ya. Give me a call when that thing is done and we can go do some night rides. If you knew anything you wouldn't get so butt hurt over a simple question. I guess I call Brian who is one of my best friends for the last 35 years to answer my question.

Not pointing fingers at anybody but my front suspension on my rhino is +8" and my old rear A-Arm suspension was +8".
My new rear suspension is ??? either way , If I was to do it again there's no way in hell I would run anything less then that. VERY happy with how it handles and dunes. Plus just like 1300Vtwin stated , Longer arms mean longer axles = More travel !!
Enough of that- Lets' see some updated pics already !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mar 23 2010, 02:07 PM
tell me if I'm wrong.. I mean you guys would know being you build and test SO much off road stuff. How much travel do you think is needed? Does longer arms w/ more travel also give you way more body roll = slowing down to stay "stable" in the corners? I guess I just a SAND guy with a car with only 18" of travel.
stetler
Mar 23 2010, 03:10 PM
Absolutly, The more travel you get the more power it's going to rob you but you sure don't see trophy truck guys saying ...Hey seriously, I really only want 12" of travel because I'll keep the body roll down and get more power to the ground..., What are those guys thinking with 30+ " ! If a class one truck could get 45" of travel, I bet they wouldn't turn it down.
You build the car with adjustment to make sure everything works together to the best of it's ability. If that means adding custom sway bars in the front and the rear or even building up the motor to make up were suspension is robbing power.
but yes you can get a car with 16" of travel to perform insaine. I've been in several of them and have been blown away by how well the ride. More travel isn't everything but in my eyes it sure is cool !!

Why +9? I'd go +12, make her an even 2ft wider over all.
Tough chassis, make sure the pics come up. Brian wont let you down, its in good hands.

Quad Cartel's Rhino is VERY nice. He picked me up at the compound and took me for a spin in it a couple trips back and it handles like crazy. More than enough power to have fun. If I were building one, it would be a very similar setup.
