Hank is a handsome PB German Shepherd that needs a new home ASAP. He is very protective and needs someone who understands the breed. Hank has always lived with small dogs but would not do well in a home with small children as he has snapped at them before.

> He really is a great dog that does not deserve to die because of his breed and nature.

What a beautiful shepherd!!!! I have had shepherds all my life, he has all the traits of the German Shepherd Dog. As far as being protective, that/s their job. As far as snapping at small children, shepherds will do that. Mine does it. Shepherds don't like quick actions, and the shrieks that children produce. If the shepherd isn't raised with the child, it probably won't work until the child grows older..say around 10. If I didn't have a big male 120 lbs, I would be all over this. Please find him a home, he doesn't deserve to be put down.

Thank you Tanman,

he is obviously well loved and cared for, and what a heartbreaker they have to put him to sleep for trying to do his job. The rescue would pay for trainer, but I would feel comfortable with a person that has a ton of experience w/the breed.

Great looking dog, hope he finds a home.

i cant believe nobody has rescude this young healthy dog. how does he do around other dogs?
Thordog711
I thought that BriAnne said that she was keeping him until they find him a home?
Thordog711
Is he in a home or is he in a shelter? I gave her some ideas about going to SWGerman shepherd rescue in AZ or try Coastal or West side in CA. These are great places because they deal with alot of the GS that have lost there homes to different circumstances. I have a friend that deals with these rescues and she said that with this one and his training they would be able to try to do what they could but he has to be evaluated first. This is to nice of GS to be PS because he is very protective of his family

best friend i have ever had, my first GS she was totally def, but was great with sign language, but she was old and lived way past 14 years. both GS always sleep at night with you in there sights (first one shelby would even sleep with her eyes open) but they always sleep some place that if anyone were to get in your house they would have to get over you pup. well 100+ pound pup smile.gif. i know my dog as looked like he was biting someone or a small dog but when he was a pup i would scream like a little girl very loud even if he didn't bite hard and now 6 years later he still wont bite a rawhide bone. he just carries them around and i have some well over 3 years old that he just carries around and sets them im my dirty laundry basket or bet to show me them. if i had room i would love another GS.

yes they are a one person dog, but i don't think you can have a more loving dog to watch over you.

I love sheperds, hope he does find a home. I had one 8 years ago, Max, the best dog. One night, while letting him out in the front gated lawn, he was 5 months. He was still a clumsy pup, but when we layed down in the bed after a night of drinking and Partying, and our garage was still open, my wife and I heard a loud protective bark. We did not think it was our dog, he never barks. My wife looked out the garage door and saw a gangster walking up towards her at the door. Max was right in front of the door, barking away, his ears sticking straight up. My wife yelled, and this gangster claimed he was robbed, and needed the phone. I quickly got up and met him outside. I told my wife to call 911. gangster said it was not necessary, that he would call a friend. Long story short, I held him there until police arrived. He had a felony burglary warrant and was armed with a large knife inside his pants. He went to jail. Max got to sleep inside that night, and had the greatest stake dinner the next day. I miss him.

Good story! There has to be someone out there that can take this dog? He would even be a good shop dog??

I might have a place for him if I can get more information on why he was relinquished. I need to understand a bit more about his background if its possible.

kmgibbons@cox.net - Personal email - shoot me an email directly if anyone has this information. Can't make a decision without this.

Thanks!

Thank you all!

Often times I get a snippet of info and I share all I have here when I post them. It sounded to me that he was either over protective, or possibly was a bite dog. It is quite possible it is too late, I get most of the E-List and last minute pleas so I try to move as fast as I can. If he is still available it sounds like he is going to need a strong leader to help him understand the difference between friend or foe, and who is OK in the house.

Hello Queen Glamis
As I posted earlier. I appreciated getting her e-mail address. She told me that she was going to keep him until they find him a home for him. I didn't get into the details regarding Hank background. I hope for the best for this dog. I have a GS and owned them in my past and know the breed well. I will always own a GS.
Thanks
